The Mineral View Story
Welcome to Mineral View, the ultimate data analytics website designed specifically for mineral owners, operators, oil and gas companies, researchers, and sector officials. We're thrilled to have you here! We've created a platform that aims to empower you by providing the necessary tools and insights to succeed.
The oil and gas industry is full of mineral owners, operators, scientists, researchers, officials, and so on, who go back several decades. Most of these find it difficult to receive real-time updates and relevant information about their holdings, oil and gas production or potential, investments, and other relevant matters.
Mineral View aims to revolutionize this industry and support all stakeholders for generations. This single platform helps mineral owners manage their holdings, track important processes, make data-driven forecasting, and receive daily market updates. You can have comprehensive data from county to mineral owner and from lease number to royalty interest.
Mineral View is owned and nurtured by a family of dedicated and passionate professionals. Six generations in, the family operates on the vision and mantras of the person who started it all – Norman Cochran.
The Founding Grandfather!
With humble beginnings, Normal Cochran left his home in 1914 to move from East to West Texas. He picked cotton on small farms near Snyder.
The Great War (or The First World War) called Norman in 1917, where he was stationed at Camp Bowie near Fort Worth. While he trained in the “Big Guns” division, Norman lost his right leg in an unfortunate accident. He received a medical discharge from the service.
However, Norman stayed unfazed by the tragedy and found work in Lamesa, Texas as a telegrapher soon after the war. Here, he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and picked cotton on the local farms. He used his functional leg to tow cotton sacks and dragged the other wooden leg every day at work.
Despite all this toil and trouble, Norman refused, considering him a “cripple.” He was just as ambitious for the good old “American Dream” as anyone else! This dream started coming true when he saved enough to purchase a small cotton farm in the late 1930s.
Fortune favored the brave, and oil was soon discovered in neighboring lands. As no company approached Norman immediately, he approached an attorney for an offer and to negotiate a lease with a company. Things worked out, and wells were soon drilled (which later led to a waterflood) that cost half of Norman’s royalties.
Having seen extreme ups and downs in life, Norman left his land for his future generations along with his core mantras before he passed away in 1971.
His legacy is reflected in his mantras, “We should not begrudge a man his profit” and “One good investment is worth a lifetime of toil!”
Norman stood by his virtues of treating people equally, being treated equally, and making smart investments. He passed down the same ethics and morals to his children and grandchildren, laying the foundation for Mineral View.
The Mineral View Idea
Norman's teachings and virtues made the Cochran family thrive.
The seed of Mineral View germinated when the family, being mineral owners themselves, experienced significant issues with the lack of transparency and information available to several mineral owners in the sector. They quickly realized a comprehensive platform was needed to keep the owners updated about their holdings and mineral interests.
Holding on to this idea, the founders introduced a suite of tools to help mineral owners manage their investments better. Two of these tools were MPact (to provide real-time updates on lease and well reports) and MPower (a Community Forum for knowledge sharing and discussion). Both these suites are an integral part of Mineral View (MView).
The family-owned business gives importance to building lasting and personal relationships with its valued patrons, making no compromises in offering impeccable customer service.
Currently, Mview is providing all kinds of in depth data for Texas and nearby counties. Built with a combined experience of 75 years, Mineral View rapidly growing into a trusted resource for mineral owners and investors across the United States.
While the platform keeps evolving and adapting to the ongoing trends, its core remains intact – empowering mineral owners and entities in the United States of America.
Upholding Generational Legacy
In its 6th generation, the Cochran family upholds Norman’s legacy and continues living his dream. Many of the Cochrans have become petroleum engineers and earned degrees from prestigious institutions like the University of Texas and Texas A&M. Such dynamic experience and knowledge of the domain only help the family business thrive, carving its niche in the industry.
Even after several decades, the family has not lost sight of the founding values and the legacy that gave rise to Mineral View.
Here at Mineral View, we're committed to carrying on the values of fairness, integrity, and determination passed down through generations. By being true to our principles and evolving with the requirements of the business, we desire to become a reliable resource for mineral owners, investors, and industry experts.
Let us help you succeed in mineral ownership and investments through oil and gas industry data analytics.
BOLD Precious Metals
Family Business
At BOLD Precious Metals has been involved in precious metals for over 30 years, inspired by the Cochran family's grandfather, an avid coin collector. He instilled in the family a deep appreciation for the beauty and historical significance of coins. As the family pursued careers in various fields such as engineering, finance, and technology, they continued to maintain their interest in precious metals as a hobby and as a means to invest in physical assets. Coin collecting became a fun and educational way to teach their children about the history of the United States and to introduce them to other cultures around the world.
