Missing Genuine Deals of a Life-Time.

Ladies & Gentlemen,

This article is actually based on a true story, therefore this articles' primary focus is to make good use of this "real-life-time-scenario" to start-up your own business, especially while you are looking for a job.

The other day, one of my friends in the neighborhood mentioned that she is looking for a new role, stressing out that I should keep my eyes and ears open to see whether there are some roles that someone is looking to fill.

I did gather around with some of my contacts, online, as well as offline, just to discuss any lately business opportunities that would have come up.

The Philosophy of Creating a New Business:

  • Having identified that there is one particular opportunity for
  • easy consultation money for a one in a life-time genuine deal,
  • I immediately took out a pen and paper and drew up an action plan

Putting it into Action, Converting Ideas into Business:

  • As soon as this has been done, I created one standard-agreement,

  • Along with an invoice-draft and a letter of "intent" for the very first approach
  • A letter of intent (LOI) is basically document declaring the preliminary commitment of one party to do business with another. The letter outlines the chief terms of a prospective deal.

Business Leads and Setting Goals:

  • By definition, a business lead (or sales lead) is a person who is interested in the product or service you sell.
  • So I did forward this "Belgian" firm as a business lead to my Japanese friend, who has forwarded all the files necessary for her very first consultation invoice, worth over USD 3000, which would have been the very first step to take her start-up to the very next level.
  • Instead to only wait for one particular person to wire funds and to let her get the job done, which would have been partially paid for, I still recommended her to simply go online and to post her "consulting services" on platforms, such as LinkedIn, Xing, etc.
  • Just a few days later, I have asked her whether she did post online and followed-up with that Belgian firm that has been specifically requesting expertise for the Japanese market.
  • She denied and mentioned that she will still be looking for a job instead and trying to focus on something else instead, such as "working for someone else".
  • I understand that our educational systems always prepare us to getting good jobs, therefore we will have to study and obtain the very best degrees possible.
  • You may become what you study and it may be hard to change your profession, (a) e.g. if you study cooking, you may turn into a chef, (b) if you are going for a pilot license, you may fly airplanes, (c) obtaining IT degrees, will let you become either an IT Manager, or Online Marketing Expert. But those giving expert advice to people working in a professional or technical field, is rather fragile, while always having to work for someone else.

As of now: Status Quo - Missing Opportunities:

  1. My friend from Japan is still requesting a normal job, with a normal salary and sitting online all day long, trying to find a job, missing this once-in-a-life-time opportunity.
  2. I did got somehow engaged in the business of giving expert advice, even for the Japanese market, by just posting this very unique "high-demand" business-expertise on several platforms.
  3. Within less than 72 hours, I created new business accounts and deep down, I felt extremely satisfied in getting those on-board and to simply outsourced those "human-resources", I still kept my day-to-day job / minding my own business, which includes accountancy and cash-management.
  4. Until today, my friend did not necessarily showed any interest or any sort of enthusiasm to either start to work on this new "system" I have been creating (over-night), rather and still prefers to seek for roles online, or to simply contact them through cold-calling.
  5. This particular examples demonstrates that, for sure, that if she would only spend 10% of her time to execute this business-system, she could use the other 90 % trying to learn something else than how to handle online / digital online marketing strategies of airline carriers. The reason why I did forward her such tremendous business lead, is that she used to handle the Japanese "online-" - market for a multi billion Dollar airline carrier, she would have definitely had the expertise, but not the drive or self-confidence to be persistent, focused and eager to get new firms signed-up.

Conclusion: Eventually Starting your Own Firm:

  • For someone that cannot find any employment for months, starting up a new business seems to be the very best option, but this only works once you are packed with "civil-courage", not with too much doubt over confidence instead.
  • She has clearly missed her opportunity and failed to convert an opportunity into business, not even showing interest in seeking guidance from those who are already successful entrepreneurs, which could definitely have been easily found online, through literature, case studies or just by reading posts online, such as "success stories" of people like "George Soros", "Bill Gates", "Jeff Bezos", "Elon Musk", etc. All of those nominations have been persistent and focused, and could have given up, they decided not to: the winner shows up and the winner / the loser, they both fail, but giving up just over one single email response is definitely a no-brainier.
  • I minded my own business and build and keep my asset column strong, having tried to encourage a job-seeker to starting her own business was a failure, I still try to blame myself not having succeeded to use my own sweat and blood to let her get out of the rat-race.
  • Until today, she is looking for employment, using her "digital marketing intelligence" to contact every single firm possible that could get her into a 9 to 5 job instead.
  • Today, I am sitting her, generating more funds for my real estate / food and beverage trading business and for being definitely convinced not to ever hire her in my multi-million Dollar enterprise.
  • An individual job-seeker, that would at least, show encouragement and effort to trying to get those 2 contracts onboard of my firm, which is and will be a long term billing client, could have let to revenue that I would have easily been able to convert as her monthly salary, however, someone that is just sending an email, trying to convince me that it won't work and too many firms - in Japan - could possibly to all the same, is definitely not the right candidate.
  • Not to mention that the main focus of some folks is to get paid a monthly salary, not having to worry about anything, but the monthly-pay-date to come.
  • To conclude, even there are tons of business opportunities out there, and you are lack of self confidence, commitment and loyalty (towards yourself), and you are not ready to be on your own, don't go for it, look for a job instead.
