Mixing Power House: Learning How To Mix Music with Friedemann Tischmeyer and Tonee Petermann
After slightly more than a decade developing web solutions for advertisement agencies through SeClick - Web That Works, I come back to the world of professional music production. My first time in this so mysterious, stimulating and fertile universe was at On The Brave's Trail studio, beside Luis Leite (today at AmBev) and Rodolpho Azuos, an excellent guitarist with whom I also created two bands, Carmesins and Grux.
Both were my colleagues at Social Communication's Bachelor Degree at University, where we had classes with Michel Krueger and Eduardo Ayrosa about the fundamentals os audio production and who stimulated us to fund our first small company. The Brave, as we call it, had the satisfaction of working for clients as ASB Financeira, Labchecap, Cerveja D'Ávila and to make the soundtrack for a public TV station of Eslovenia about spiritual healing. Jobs that made us grow as professionals and evolve as human beings.
Closing the doors around two years later, I had accumulated valuable knowledge about attending clients and creating jingles, spots and soundtracks. That's when Chico Gomes inverter me to work in his Protom Studio. There I learnt even more about sound recording, microphones, how to create and produce professional audio for advertisement and more about editing and mixing music.
I learnt how to work my voice and started recording announcements; my voice went around in Vivo and Claro ads and I had the satisfaction os hearing my editing and creative work made real in some of the most beautiful pieces produced for the Salvador Summer Festival and other notable national clients.
Each one of those people - including Bob Bastos (sound engineer of Bahia Minha Vida movie, also a teacher at university and with who I learnt a lot about building a vision for sound design) guided me until the place where I could how much fundamental would be for me to qualify myself even further. And that led me to find Mastering Academy, created by Friedemann Tischmeyer. This renowned mastering engineer has decades of a work with references from Alan Parsons to Steely Dan; Johnny Cash to Iron Maiden.

Friedemann is also the inventor of the Loudness Range Meter and recognized expert on psycho acoustics, being author of reference best-sellers, including Internal Mixing, Audio Mastering. His Audio Mastering Trilogy is know as the most comprehensive and complete guide to music mastering under industry's standards.
For the last 3 months, I've been studying his book, Internal Mixing, and also his videos that are part of the content of the training concluded thisweek, called Mixing Power House. Beside Tonee Petermann - a guy with skills and knowledge that fluidly blends with the author's -, Friedemann Tischmeyer shares valuable knowledge for those who loves producing music with quality.
During this short time interval, I witnessed my own song come to life in front of my ears, my heart and my own soul. Suddenly, a world I always knew was real - as I felt it while I heard classics that got me by the ears - was completely at my disposição so I could build my own songs.
I can only imagine how much I'll have the chance to develop myself and evolve on the art of mixing music, there're lots of studying ahead. But I can already leave here expressed my gratitude for each one of the professionals named above, to each colleague at Q&A sessions that mede such a huge learning possible and to each person of the big family I'm part of and that, in some way, contributed for making this moment possible.
