Modern slavery

Modern slavery may seem like an anachronistic expression and may evoke images of a bygone era, but its prevalence and relevance in today's society are more pronounced than ever before.

In fact, according to a recent report published by the International Labour Organization, the International Organization for Migration, and the human rights group Walk Free, approximately 50 million people are currently living in modern slavery. 

This sad truth underlines the urgent need for all companies and individuals to take action.

RA has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery, which includes human trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage, the sale or exploitation of children, and other exploitative practices.

RA publishes an annual statement to outline the steps that we take and continue to take to prevent any form of Modern Slavery within our business and supply chain.

In particular, we expect all our suppliers to act in accordance with our policies and to ensure high levels of integrity in their operations.

Our contracts incorporate specific clauses related to the prohibition of slavery or servitude, the use of forced, compulsory or trafficked labour and child labour. In addition, we reserve the right to terminate any contractual arrangement if there is a breach of our code of conduct policy.

We also ensure our recruitment processes are transparent and reviewed regularly, with robust processes in place for the vetting of the appointment of our people and we raise awareness of the issue amongst our staff with training and communication.

We are determined to put an immediate end to modern slavery.

We must move faster if we want to reach the ambitious target set by the UN Sustainable Development Goals of ending child labour by 2025 and modern slavery by 2030 — and to make this the world we wish to live in.
