Active Fall Patterns Continue Globally

Back to back low pressure in the Western CONUS will provide a head start to building the crucial mountain snowpack in the Cascades and in the Rocky Mountain West. Over a foot of snow is forecast to fall in these mountain zones during the week.

While above climatological warmth continues for the eastern half of the United States, low pressure undergoing cyclogenesis in the south central plains will alleviate Red Flag Warnings and move north through the Mississippi Valley, lending a cold frontal passage to the coastal south. This will re-introduce the threat for severe weather for the Ark-La-Tex region, continuing east mid-week.

Globally, a persistent trough west of the United Kingdom this week will set the British Isles and other Western European areas up for continuous bouts of rainfall this week. Western Coastal Portugal and Norway could see upwards of 2 inches (roughly 50mm) of rain by the end of this week.
