Monday Muses ~a question asked and answered
It is quite common for workers compensation industry professionals to ask this question. Though I have responded to the writer of this question; I am taking this opportunity to expand on my response. [I have not copied the complete response as I have no wish to identify the person who asked the question of me]
Far too many members of the injured worker community are left feeling helpless and continuously overwhelmed. There is the sense of loss of control, though it is more akin to a sense of being off-balance without actually understanding what it off balance and what if anything can be done to right the balance or at the very least understand just what is happening at the same time that a medical issue that they had no time or ability to prepare for is first and foremost in their minds.
To be fair to the workers compensation system actually has nothing within any of the various legislations to take into consideration anything other that the point of injury, nor is there anything that allows any of the workers compensation industry providers to "care".
It is beyond frustrating that so many many industry providers want to do more, provide more real assistance, provide non-biased guidance, just have the ability to answer questions openly and honestly without needing to contact any member of the injured worker community outside of business hours using their own private mobile so there isn't any record on file or phone call recorded.

Everyone knows I work with many wondrous providers at the international level. A few weeks back now I recorded this Nudging the Narrative Episode with Jason Parker . Jason and I chatted for a tad longer than we had planned, but to be honest we could have chatted on for a lot longer than we did. I hope that you take the time to listen and if you feel that you want to know more please email me rosemary@craigstable.net.au just put ice-cream in the subject line 😀[you will understand the reason when you watch the video]

Tonight is the end of what I call the Tolkien long weekend. For me it is the one weekend of the year when I quite literally sit down to watch in order "An Unexpected Journey The Desolation of Smaug then The Battle of the Five Armies followed by The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King." Spread over 3 days for me even though I have watched the 6 movies many times I still find something in each of the movies to inspire me; so for now I am going to end here, tomorrow starts a new week of issues that have been out off for far too long.

1yMany thanks Rosemary for covering an important subject. When I worked as a WHSO I also looked after RRTWC assisting injured workers to come back to the workplace at their own pace on Dr's advice.

1yHi Rosemary, It's simple in theory to be treated like a person that matters and be helped to recover from your injuries .. But as we know too well, that is just never going to happen, as for the insurance companies they are only in to make money and the injured worker is just a number that cost them money.. I hope the system has gotten better than what I went through as you know what that experience was like for me. Regards Paul Couzner
