More From RSA, Top 5 Must Reads, and Upcoming Webinars: 5/5/2023

You already know that every day at InformationWeek there will be original reporting from our team of journalists and unique commentary you won’t see anywhere else. But in case you missed them, here are some of our favorites from this week:

1. RSA Conversation on Networking & More

Joao-Pierre Ruth Interviews John T. Chambers

Key Points:

  • Meeting with InformationWeek at last week’s RSA Conference in San Francisco, he spoke about where networking is headed, how he sees Nile fitting in that landscape, and ways detection and response are changing in terms of cybersecurity.
  • Just last year saw the emergence of Nile, a network-as-a-service (NaaS) startup he co-founded with CEO Pankaj Patel.
  • Check out the full conversation above for more.

2. Chip Foundry Plans

Story by  Shane Snider

Key Points:

  • A global chip shortage helped illustrate the need for supply chain relief and moved lawmakers to action.
  • According to a 2021 report by the Semiconductor Industry Association, the US chip market share has declined from about 37% to 12%, with Asia now producing the lion’s share of chips used in everything from cars and refrigerators to smart phones and personal computers.
  • Intel, Micron, TSMC, and other global semiconductor players have multi-billion dollar plans to build out chip manufacturing.

3. Combatting Cyber Attacks

Richard Pallardy Interviews Scott Caveza

Key Points:

  • Ransomware attacks and data breaches are different, but overlapping, phenomena. And not all of them occur in the cloud.
  • Misconfigurations are a growing cybersecurity concern and represent a significant risk to nearly every organization.
  • Check out the full conversation above for more.

4. Integrating AI

Story by Nathan Eddy

Key Points:

  • A recent KPMG survey of 225 US executives at companies with revenue of $1 billion and above found while two-thirds of respondents believe generative AI will have a major impact on their organization, 60% say they are still a year or two away from implementing their first solution.
  • Many of the generative AI tools at present have been trained on predominantly unknown data sources, meaning any generated content could on the surface look like a great outcome, but can prove to be less than helpful, trustworthy, or ethical.

5. CISA Moves to Mitigate Ransomware Attacks

Story by Carrie Pallardy

Key Points:

  • The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has established the Ransomware Vulnerability Warning Pilot (RVWP) in an effort to mitigate ransomware attacks against critical infrastructure entities.
  • Critical infrastructure organizations provide vital services like power, clean water, and health care. They face mounting challenges when it comes to preventing ransomware.
