More than four decades of drawings — now online

A look through Ashburner Francis’ digital archives reveals thousands of drawings dating back to the mid-seventies.

This substantial back catalogue gives our engineers easy access to valuable intel when embarking on expansion projects. Being able to quickly locate drawings of a building’s original architecture, and its mechanical, electrical and/or hydraulic service designs, provides a useful knowledge base from which to begin our work on extensions or upgrades.

These records are a valuable timesaver too, circumventing the need to deploy staff to sort and source original documentation. Thanks to an efficient cataloguing system, we’re able to search by job numbers to swiftly ascertain whether online drawings can be accessed.

Early adopters to online archiving, our team began digitising hand drawings back in the mid-seventies. Since then, literally thousands of drawings have been collated and catalogued for easy reference.

In addition to being a valuable resource for our work, these archives also provide a powerful  reminder of how far our industry has come. Perusing original tracing-paper drawings and comparing the level of detail we’re now able to deliver, via 3D modelling, fills us with excitement about what further advancements await our profession.

If you’re embarking on an expansion project that may benefit from our extensive site knowledge and/or our historical records, we welcome your enquiry on (07) 3510 8888 or email tobym@ashburnerfrancis.com.au
