The Most Wanted Chair!

Greetings, dear readers! I am your humble companion, the chair.

I've been a part of your home for as long as you can remember, always ready to offer a seat when you need it.  Even if you have a sofa, I’ll still find place in all homes.

But my story is more than just sitting. I’m a comfortable place to sit, I was designed for that very purpose, Though I have evolved, I'm always "Put to Other Use," than any product you have at home.

It is only later, I came to know that "Put to Other Use," is a part of the creativity-boosting SCAMPER method. It is a fascinating technique to innovate when you are actually stuck looking for solutions. Now let me tell you all how SCAMPER’s “Put to other use” transformed me into a versatile household helper.

Put to Other Use: The SCAMPER Technique

Before I talk about my transformation, let's take a closer look at "Put to Other Use". It's one of the techniques in the SCAMPER method. "Put to Other Use" encourages us to think about how an object can be repurposed or used differently from its original intention.

Now, back to me, the chair.

Drying Station:  I've become an excellent towel drying station. You'll often find me with towels over my back. And not to complain, during the rainy season I serve as the prime drying station for all the clothes. I act as a perfect laundry space.

Mini Almirah: I'm the go-to-choice in every household for the freshly dried clothes, until they find their actual space in a cupboard. I facilitate the dried clothes until they are folded.

Work from home: With a cushion or two, I can become your makeshift home office. That too during the Covid times, people have realized that I can make a pretty good t desk or a comfy speat to sit while working from home.

Step Stool:  I've been there for those hard-to-reach shelves and cupboards. With a little care, I can safely double as a step stool.

Backpack Holder:  I'm also the go-to spot for keeping the backpacks and the purses. That too kids after returning from school they simply toss the bag on my seat. Thank God, I have arms to hold them.

Temporary Shelf:  I’m a place where you keep your book, magazine, or laptop. This shows that I am also a makeshift shelf.

Musical chair: I am also put to use in games, they use me to play the musical chair, The thing I don’t understand is why don’t they play musical table?

I am the Most wanted chair at my home.
