You and your children are an asset to society, for you are role models and educators for society at large. Carry on, hold your heads up high and know despite having one of the toughest and lowest paying jobs in the world you never back down. The pay is not monetary but the outcome is priceless.

7yHow about putting the person first? They aren't "special needs moms." That's offensive. They aren't even "moms of children with special needs ." They are moms to CHILDREN with special needs ." Put the children first.

7yHaving a newborn is hard enough on sleep deprived parents. Imagine what it would be like to have the joy of a new baby and then find out that they may not be "normal". Doctors and Nurses in NICUs are generally wonderful people, but they can in their need to care for so many, give new parents frightening and painful news abruptly and without too much explanation. If you know of some Special Needs Parents give them a big hug for Mother's Day and share with them the positive qualities you see in their child.
