Moving Forward, Tulsa Event, and more

Moving Forward, Tulsa Event, and more

Today we recognize Veterans Day—a day to honor the bravery, commitment, and sacrifices of the men and women who have served in our armed forces. As we move forward as a nation, let us not only honor their service with our words but also by showing our support for veterans and their families in meaningful ways. To all veteran families in our community, thank you.

"I know many people feel like we are entering a dark time but for the benefit of us all, I hope that is not the case. But here’s the thing, America, if it is, let us fill the sky with the light of a brilliant billion of stars. The light of optimism, of faith, of truth and service. And may that work guide us even in the face of setbacks, toward the extraordinary promise of the United States of America." –– Vice President, Kamala Harris

A few reminders as we move forward:

  • Be the love of your life. Watch the video below and reflect on what fuels you personally, rest, and renew your commitment to yourself.
  • Allow yourself the time to process. Avoiding emotions only leads to prolonged shock. Name and allow emotions to surface. Let the emotions sink in. Don't jump into planning or strategizing; accept reality.
  • Trust Yourself. In a time of widespread distrust—self-trust is crucial. Start by trusting your own perceptions, intuitions, and resist the internal chaos. Trust your emotions and acknowledge both your knowledge and uncertainties.
  • Find Trusted Allies. Isolation grows when we turn away from each other. We must actively counter this isolation. Throughout history, we've seen the power of building small, trusted groups that can help us stay grounded and resist division. This is why we started VEST. Once you take the time to process the results of the election, take time to build meaningful connections with people who align with your values and morals.
