Multiply your best Clients with Bill Cates - June 2023 Edition

Last year we had the pleasure of having outstanding Sales guru, Bill Cates share with our K2 Elite Community his secrets to accelerate your growth with referrals & introductions.

Bill has supported over 20,000 businesses to build referral-based business, increasing their sales and cutting thousands of dollars in marketing expenses in the same strategy. Author of three top-selling referral books, President of Referral Coach International, and the Founder of The Referral Coach Academy, Bill has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Selling Power, the Huffington Post, and more.

Here are some highlights from his keynote speech: 

  • Always listen with an ear to teach.
  • Make sure you measure your cost for opportunities before checking for referrals.
  • When you are with a client and you are going to meet someone new or introduce someone, make sure you use the word *Introduction*.
  • For most businesses we can’t rely on word of mouth, we need a consistent and tangible contact point with clients.
  • The highest level of referral is having advocacies in your companies, these will be insistent and keep an engaged connection with future clients.
  • It’s all about creating a culture of client engagement and personal introductions.
  • A systematic approach designed to multiply your best clients includes connection, engagement, and leverage, all moving around your referral mindset.
  • A referral strategy is the most profitable way to make a business.
  • If you don’t like to give referrals, do not expect your client to give you a referral - you need to see yourself as a connector first. 
  • Asking for help is a sign of strength with the belief that you bring great value to people.
  • Engaged clients create exponential growth for companies through referrals.
  • The three places to become super referable are prospect experience, new client experience, and ongoing experience.
  • Make the value discussion about the meeting, the decision, the process, and the relationship. 
  • Conduct value discussions on a regular basis even if you’re not going to ask for referrals.
  • Do not be apologetic - believe in the value you bring and that it is worth sharing. 
  • You can use the VIPS method for referrals, this stands for Value discussions, Importance in the treatment, Permission to explore, and Suggest names & categories.
