Multy drive control for improving the efficiency of the paper unwinder!
A paper or film unwinder is used to divide a big paper roll into a smaller one. Two drums are spinning roll that pulls the paper from the unwinder. From the point of view of control, there are two tasks here:
To provide the tension of paper it is required to apply the torque to unwider with a direction opposite to the spinning direction.
One of the best ways to do this - is to have a motor on the shaft of unwinder which is working in generator mode with torque controlled by VFD.
The density of roll is controlled by the difference between the torques of the rear drum and the front drum.
All these tasks can be successfully solved by VFD control, where all motors are controlled by VFDs that are united under the control of a master VFD that provides torque settings for each motor.
Considering the way of operating the motor of the unwinder - the generator mode, all energy produced during the braking can be efficiently used by front and rear drum motors if inverters work with the common DC-bus.
All these features can be provided by Triol AT24-MP drive with multi-drive configuration and master-follower torque control algorithm.
