My 14 year anniversary.

My 14 year anniversary.

On this day, 14 years ago, 25 year old me signed up to Linkedin.

Linkedin has changed my life in many ways. It helped me find all of the jobs I've ever had, it gave me the confidence to have an opinion, it gave me a platform to keep in touch with former colleagues, and without wanting to sound crass, it made me a millionaire.

It's not the coolest or sexiest platform, but it's the only one I use and quite frankly, the only one I understand.

And all of my new ventures have Linkedin at the heart of their marketing strategy. FounderON has grown to a blog that gets tens of thousands of views each month, in less than 12 months, all down to Linkedin. Kitchimo launched 23 days ago and already has higher monthly revenue than Molzi did after the first year, all down to Linkedin. And The Ten Club has an incredible pipeline of candidates from all walks of life, you guessed it, all down to Linkedin.

It's very daunting to hit 'post' that first time. But the opportunity that it opens up is huge. 1 billion members now, and only 1% who are are actually posting content.

I recently bought an online course, for the first time in my life. A guy called Justin Welsh who has built a significant following on the platform, and created a simple framework for how to think up content at scale. Like any books I've bought in the past, I ended up reading about 10% of it and then got bored, but it did teach me one thing. Online courses can be a great way to deliver information if done right.

Since starting up FounderON it was always a goal of mine to find a way of delivering advice and insights to founders without having to charge for time. But I had a negative opinion of online courses, I think due to all of the ones I get spammed about for property investing and forex trading. But this course from Justin Welsh showed me that a course can be valuable, as long as the content is good.

So I have decided to create 3 courses for FounderON . The first two courses I am aiming to launch in January. One will be aimed at people right at the start of their business journey and provide actionable guidance on getting to the first £250k of annual revenue. And the other will be aimed at early stage founders looking to hit the mega desirable £1m revenue mark.

I've planned out the structure of the content, tested out some recordings and figured out how to actually integrate it with the FounderON website (not my natural strength!). As soon as it's live I'll be looking for BETA testers (thank you to all of those that have already come forward) as I don't want to launch until, or unless it's brilliant.

It's really exciting me at the moment though. The creation of the product, but also planning the customer journey, the marketing strategy and the launch plan. All of the bits that I enjoy the most in business, and without the need to scale up teams etc if it takes off.

Whenever anyone asks me what I'm up to I still feel a little embarrassed saying that I'm just writing some content though. It's so far removed from what I've done in previous jobs, but I'll take it if it means I don't have to sit on a train into London.

@ LinkedIn - I'm guessing there is a bottle of something in the post?
