My Elbert: What is Life-joy?

We hope this newsletter finds you well and filled with the joy and grace of our loving Creator.  Life-joy, as we understand it, is not merely a temporary feeling of happiness that comes and goes with circumstances. It is a deep and lasting joy that stems from being in a right relationship with God. Through Rejoicing Grace, as described in John 3:16, reveals the ultimate cause for rejoicing—the unmerited grace of God. It is through His sacrificial gift of His Son that we find eternal life and experience the transformative power of His grace, filling our hearts with joy and gratitude.

Today, we delve into the topic of "Life-joy" and explore the profound significance of rejoicing in God's grace and experiencing divine joy that comes from being in a right relationship with Him. Again, by Rejoicing Grace - John 3:16 reveals God's grace as the cause for rejoicing. It highlights that God's love expressed through the sacrificial gift of His Son brings joy and eternal life to all who believe in Him. This verse emphasizes the transformative power of God's grace, which fills our hearts with joy and gratitude.


Divine joy refers to the deep and lasting joy that comes from being in a right relationship with God. It is the joy that springs from experiencing God's perfect love, mercy, and grace. Divine Joy is the epitome of perfection and grace as they reveal God's immense joy in reconciling sinners to Himself, His unshakable love and delight in His children, and the assurance of His presence and eternal love that brings joy amidst any circumstance. Through divine compassion, spiritual life is breathed into those who were once lifeless in their sins. In this remarkable act, God's glory is unveiled as hearts are transformed and spiritual vitality is restored. The depths of God's mercy and love are displayed in the resurrection of souls, as His grace reaches into the darkest corners and revives the weary and broken.


Please note in the depths of our spiritual deadness, we were separated from God, alienated by our transgressions and lost in the bondage of sin. But God, rich in mercy, extended His divine pity towards us, not willing that any should perish. 


Triumph over Spiritual Death


Through the sacrificial work of Jesus Christ on the cross, the power of spiritual death was shattered, and the way to eternal life was opened. In this divine intervention, hearts that were once hardened and lifeless are made alive through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The beauty of God's glory is unveiled as He takes the broken and sinful and molds them into vessels of His grace and love. It is through this transformation that spiritual vitality is restored, and individuals are empowered to walk in righteousness and fellowship with their Creator.


Through divine compassion, believers are empowered to conquer the grip of sin and embrace a life of victory. In this divine intervention, God's glory is revealed as His people are liberated from the chains of bondage and walk in righteousness, reflecting His holiness and grace.

Harmony and balance are vital components that contribute to experiencing life-joy in its fullness.

Divine Truths: The metaphor of abiding in Jesus as the source of spiritual life and fruitfulness, the necessity of staying connected to Him for fruitful living.


To embark on the journey of life-joy, it begins with a Prayer of Repentance and Renewal. This prayer involves acknowledging one's sins, seeking God's forgiveness, and asking for the transformation of one's heart and life towards holiness. In the journey of repentance and renewal, we turn our hearts towards Your sacred divine nature. Your perfection is unchanging and flawless. We long to be transformed by Your holy presence, conforming to Your image and reflecting Your glory and longing to be transformed by His holy presence and conform to His image such as: 


  • Resplendent Glory: 1 Corinthians 16:14 encourages believers to do everything in love, reflecting the glory of a life characterized by the radiance and splendor of love. Love is a divine attribute that reveals God's perfection and grace, and when we embody love in all our actions, we reflect His glory.

It reveals God's perfection and grace as it reaches out to all, offering forgiveness, redemption, and new life in Christ. Empowerment for Kingdom Living: Divine deliverance encompasses the profound reality of being empowered by the Holy Spirit to lead a victorious and purposeful life in advancing God's kingdom. It is an inherent truth that unveils the experience of God's enabling grace and divine guidance, enabling believers to fulfill their calling and impact the world around them.


Philippians 2:14-15  encourages believers to conduct themselves in a manner that is free from grumbling, arguing, and fault, reflecting the divine truth of living a blameless and pure life in a world that is characterized as warped and crooked. The verse also emphasizes the transformative power of such a blameless life, comparing it to shining stars that stand out in the darkness.

Identity in Christ: The Bible illuminates the profound reality of believers' identity in Christ, unveiling the depth of their union with Him. It anchors believers in the unchanging love and acceptance of God, enabling them to navigate the challenges of life with confidence and hope. Through faith in Him, we are united with His resurrection power, experiencing a complete transformation at the core of our being. This transformative journey extends beyond a mere change of status; it encompasses a profound shift in our identity, purpose, and perspective. As we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to live in alignment with God's will, reflecting His character and embodying His love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Prayer: 

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your presence and guidance in our lives. We acknowledge Your greatness, Your love, and Your faithfulness. You are the source of all wisdom, strength, and joy. We thank You for the gift of life and for the abundant blessings You have bestowed upon us.

Lord, we pray for Your mercy and forgiveness. We acknowledge our sins and shortcomings, and we ask for Your cleansing and renewal. Wash away our transgressions and purify our hearts, O Lord. Create in us a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within us.

We surrender our lives to You, Lord, and we ask for Your direction and guidance. Lead us on the path of righteousness and help us to walk in Your ways. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and empower us to live lives that honor and glorify You.

Lord, we lift up our needs and desires before You. You know the desires of our hearts, and we trust in Your perfect timing and provision. Grant us wisdom in making decisions, strength in times of weakness, and courage to face challenges. Help us to be vessels of Your love and instruments of Your peace in this world.

We pray for those who are hurting and in need. Comfort the brokenhearted, heal the sick, and provide for the needy. Bring hope to the hopeless and deliverance to the oppressed. Use us, O Lord, as instruments of Your mercy and compassion to those around us.

Lord, we pray for unity and reconciliation among Your people. Help us to love one another as You have loved us. Teach us to forgive as You have forgiven us. May we be known by our love and may Your love shine through us to a world in need.

Finally, we give You all the glory, honor, and praise. You alone are worthy of our worship and adoration. Thank You for hearing our prayers and for Your faithfulness to answer. May Your will be done in our lives and in the world. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.


Union with Christ


The Bible unveils the profound truth of believers' union with Christ, emphasizing their inseparable connection with Him in His death, burial, and resurrection. This profound reality reveals the transformative power and the abundant new life that believers possess through their union with Christ.


In His death, believers are united with Christ, sharing in the crucifixion of their old selves and the forgiveness of their sins. Restoration of Joy


Through His love and grace, He offers restoration for broken hearts, wounded spirits, and weary souls. As we surrender our pain and burdens to Him, God's healing touch brings forth a renewed sense of joy and inner peace that surpasses all understanding.


Furthermore, the restoration of joy is intricately connected to our relationship with God. When we cultivate a deep and vibrant connection with Him, we open ourselves to the abundant life He promises. It is through this relationship that we find true joy, as our hearts align with His purposes, and we experience the fulfillment and contentment that can only come from being in His presence.


Conquering evil encompasses the profound reality of God's transformative work in renewing our minds and reshaping our thought patterns. It is a divine truth that reveals the experience of a complete transformation in our thinking, aligning it with God's truth while rejecting the lies and deceptions of the enemy.


"For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has  died has been set free from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him." Romans 6:5-8

  • Freedom from sin: The crucifixion of the old self leads to freedom from the enslavement of sin. Believers are no longer bound to obey sin but are set free to live a life of righteousness and obedience to God.
  • Newness of life: As believers have died and been raised with Christ, they are empowered to live a new life. This new life is characterized by a transformed nature, guided by the Holy Spirit, and devoted to righteousness.


In this journey, God invites us to surrender our old ways of thinking and embrace His perspective. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, He guides us to unlearn the harmful and negative thought patterns that have hindered our growth and kept us captive. As we immerse ourselves in His Word and seek His wisdom, our minds are renewed, and our thoughts become aligned with His divine truth.


This process of renewing our minds requires an intentional and ongoing commitment to replacing worldly thinking with godly thinking. It involves recognizing the lies and deceptions of the enemy and replacing them with the promises and truths found in God's Word. As our minds are transformed, we experience freedom from negative thinking, fear, doubt, and self-destructive patterns, allowing us to walk in the victory and abundant life that God has destined for us.


The renewal of our minds and thought life is not an abstract concept but a divine truth that can be experienced as we surrender to God's transformative work. By embracing His truth, rejecting the lies of the enemy, and intentionally aligning our thoughts with His Word, we step into a renewed mindset that brings freedom, clarity, and victory over evil. May we continually seek God's guidance in this process, allowing Him to renew our minds and shape our thought patterns according to His divine wisdom.


In conclusion, the restoration of joy is not a distant dream but a divine truth that unfolds as we invite God into our lives. As we allow Him to heal our wounds, renew our minds, and strengthen our spirits, we experience the fullness of life and joy that He intends for us.
