"My first ABO Incompatible Kidney Transplant for a child from Uzbekistan at the BLK Max Super Speciality Hospital Delhi." Dr Shafiq Ahmed
When I treat small children suffering from serious medical disease called end stage kidney failure, many question come to my mind as to why these young have to suffer such a dreaded disease. When I first saw this child who was in a wheelchair bound on dialysis looking very weak. I prayed to the Almighty to help me and my team in getting the child back to good health with a smile.
Fortunately, the child’s father and mother both came forward to donate their kidney. Father’s kidney was used, and he became a real-life hero saving his child’s life. You can see the father in the white cap in the picture above. To me such heroes are truly blessed as they become the instruments of God in saving lives.
In patients with an ABO-incompatible kidney transplant, the donor's and recipient's blood type are not compatible. This means there is no match. However, with advancements in science, it is possible to carry-on transplants in such cases.
ABO Incompatible Pediatric kidney transplant is very risky and challenging however with the blessings of the almighty we succeeded, and the child is going back in good health. Please join me in blessing the child and the family with good health.
