My Journey with AI Agents


Discovering AI Agents

I've been immersed in the world of AI agents for several years, and until recently, not many people understood the concept of AI agents. Coming from a military and law enforcement background, I have always been really interested in designing systems that can think on their own and be the type of on-demand support agent that can assist first responders and warfighters in their missions.

I started off my journey of creating AI agents by learning how to develop video analytics models with the Jetson Nano GPUs and even designed AI sleeper agent drones that can scan Wi-Fi packets on roofs and perform intrusions on a network. It may sound scary, but it gave me the understanding and respect for how powerful a tool like this can be in the right hands as well as in the wrong hands.

So during the Covid era, I began learning different computer programming languages such as Python, Node.js, C++, and JavaScript, mainly because I knew what I wanted to create and did not have funds to hire a developer.

Then I just got started and founded Metis Analytics, which Metis actually is one of the Greek goddess of Wisdom and Understanding.

At the heart of our work at Metis Analytics is the development of AI agents that significantly empower intelligence analysts in workflow. These agents are designed to help analysts monitor, analyze, and then report out cyber and geospatial intelligence that stakeholders can use to make informed decisions.

Understanding AI Agents

AI agents are essentially intelligent algorithms capable of autonomously performing tasks. Their capabilities are vast and varied, as demonstrated by pioneering organizations like OpenAI. These agents act independently, undertaking repetitive tasks and making decisions that would traditionally require human input.

AI Agents in Commercial Applications

In a commercial context, AI agents offer immense benefits. For instance, consider a restaurant that needs to order 200 napkins monthly. An AI agent can monitor inventory and autonomously reorder supplies when needed. This not only streamlines operations but also enhances efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Applications in Defense and Public Safety

The use of AI agents extends to defense, public safety, and intelligence. They can control drones, conduct reconnaissance missions, and manage surveillance in hostile environments. Their ability to handle cyber tasks, like virus detection or cyber warfare, underscores their versatility and critical role in these sectors.

The Future of AI Agents and Their Impact

The evolution of AI agents is rapid and impactful. As these technologies advance, they will become more integrated into various aspects of life. It's important to understand that AI agents are not just single-task tools; they're adaptable systems capable of handling diverse needs and enhancing human capabilities.

Embracing the AI Agent Revolution

I personally am learning more every day about how to continue to develop this technology and make it useful for the ones doing critical missions. It is very important that as a collective, we make sure we have open discussions on what the future of AI Agents should be and how we can make it align with human values.
