My Journey to the London Marathon

My Journey to the London Marathon

As I lace up my running shoes and set my sights on the horizon, I can't help but reflect on the personal challenge I've embarked upon - running my first ever Marathon. This journey is more than just about covering 42 kilometres/26.2 miles; it's a testament to overcoming personal barriers and redefining what's possible.

A few years ago, the thought of me running a marathon would have seemed laughable. A side-by-side image of me then, visibly overweight and out of shape, against a recent photo of me crossing the finish line at my first half marathon in Tatton Park, tells a story of transformation. But this transformation extends beyond the physical; it's a mental and emotional marathon I've been running since 2018.

From Mobile World Congress to Tatton Park

Training for the marathon has been anything but easy. Injury after injury, personal loss, and the constant juggle between business and family commitments have tested my resolve. There were moments when the physical and mental challenges seemed insurmountable, making me question everything: Am I ready for this? Can I actually do it? What if I fail?

Yet, here I am, still pushing forward. This journey has taught me that the human spirit, much like the body, is incredibly resilient. The pain, the doubts, and the fears are all part of the process. They're not indicators of failure but signs of progress, of moving closer to a goal that once seemed impossible.

I'm sharing this because I know I'm not alone in my struggles. Many of us set personal challenges that feel like climbing a mountain. But it's these challenges that shape us, that teach us we're capable of much more than we ever imagined.

As I continue my journey to the London Marathon, I'm reminded that the real victory isn't just crossing the finish line; it's in every step that moves us beyond our perceived limits. To anyone facing their own "marathon," remember: our limits are often just the beginning of our potential.

Let's keep pushing, keep challenging ourselves, and most importantly, keep believing in the incredible capabilities of our minds and bodies. Because in this this marathon, it's not just about reaching the end; it's about the strength we discover within ourselves along the way.

The Look of Determination ;)
