NAIDOC Week 2021

At Evolution, we would like to take the time to acknowledge NAIDOC week and the theme promoted via NAIDOC of Heal Country.

NAIDOC articulate that country is more than a place, it is family, kin lore, ceremony, traditions and language. For that purpose we would like to specifically acknowledge and draw attention to two of our many Indigenous family at Evolution.

Tiff, Evolution’s Sydney Operations Manager, is a proud woman of Aboriginal decent. She belongs to the Wiradjuri people, one of the biggest mobs in Australia (also known as the 3 River People). The Wiradjuri lands stretch across inland NSW and their culture is one of the oldest on earth, 60,000yrs or so. Tiff’s father is an aboriginal elder and their family totem is the Goanna. Any chance they get they take time to pass their dreaming stories and culture down to the next generation of the Wiradjuri Mob, Tiff’s Children.

Benny, one of Evolution’s Sydney Operations Supervisors, was born in Westmead but his mob is from Hinchinbrook Island in Far-North Queensland. This makes him a Banjin man. Benny has been gifted the middle name Ricko Guluwurru, first part is an uncle he is named after, second part is his totem – barramundi. Benny is a gifted traditional dancer and has performed on NITV (National Indigenous Television) and the 2000 Sydney Olympics opening ceremony. Benny’s family is rich with culture and has a lot to do with the development of aboriginal youth across Australia. His Nan owns and runs Yaarn'n Aboriginal Employment Services, was a founding member of Naisda as well as Chairwoman on the Board of Directors for 13yrs.
