I've come to understand that grief can resurface in unpredictable ways, sometimes triggered by a memory, a scent, or even a sound. It's a path that doesn't follow a straight line but meanders, with highs and lows, moments of clarity, and periods of overwhelming sadness. This journey towards healing isn't about moving on from the loss, but rather learning to live with it, incorporating the experience into who we are.
The active work involved in grieving is something many might not anticipate. It's a process that requires more than just time; it demands engagement. I've found solace in activities that engage both the body and the mind, such as painting, gardening, and yoga. These aren't mere distractions but ways to connect with myself on a deeper level, to process the loss in a space that feels nurturing and healing.
