Nedbank Namibia donates trees worth N$25 000 to Osona Village

On 2 November Nedbank Namibia donated trees worth N$25 000 to Osona Village through Okamita Properties - a property developer working in the village.

As an institution committed to sustainability, Nedbank Namibia donated the trees with the aim of enhancing its efforts of promoting a greener future. With the increase in the number of homeowners in Osona Village, it became imperative for the bank to collaborate with Okamita Properties, and the  trees were donated as part of the Okamita Properties One Tree at a Time initiative.

The trees will be planted strategically in front of different houses in Osona to help absorb noise, refresh the atmosphere, serve as windbreaks, provide shade, and improve the overall quality of life in the community.

As part of its ongoing commitment to the environment, Nedbank Namibia is taking a proactive step in contributing to the creation of a sustainable living environment. The donation of trees to Osona Village is a significant demonstration of Nedbank Namibia’s dedication to supporting eco-conscious initiatives.

Speaking at the handover was Nedbank Namibia's Head of Secured Lending, Amanda von Wielligh, who said: “As money experts who do good, preserving the environment and promoting a sustainable future is at the core of what we do at Nedbank Namibia. We are excited to partner with Okamita Properties and contribute to their vision of a green and eco-conscious community. This donation is a testament to our unwavering commitment to the well-being of communities we serve,” she said.

Also speaking at the handover was Jaco Koen from Okamita Properties, who said: “Trees make communities livable for people as it adds that layer of beauty and create an environment beneficial to one's physical and mental health. More than 80 trees were planted since the launch of the initiative in September 2023. We from Okamita Properties would like to thank Nedbank Namibia for contributing to our vision,' he said.

Well done Nedbank Namibia, an investment whose benefits will be reaped by generations to come. The landscaper should throw in a couple of fruit trees to double the benefit in the end! #futureforward #greenbank
