It is very easy to criticize on the ground of work , quality of work , humiliating in public , comparing how bad or how worst the comment can be. What about the permanent negative pattern which is growing in the person and what about the impact ?
Workplace attitude needs a check to the behavior as day by day the worst criticism is killing the essence of performance and even at times its fearful to experiment something new, as again there is a pile of negative comments waiting ahead .When a person is surrounded by criticism, negative motivation, comparison, and humiliation, it can lead to pervasive negative thought patterns that significantly impact their mental health and self-esteem. Here are some key aspects of how these influences manifest as negative thought patterns:
- Internalization of Criticism: Continuous criticism can cause individuals to internalize negative feedback, leading them to believe they are inherently flawed or unworthy. This often results in a harsh inner dialogue characterized by self-criticism and feelings of inadequacy.
- Fear-Based Motivation: Negative motivation, such as the fear of failure or humiliation, can drive individuals to act out of fear rather than genuine desire for growth. This fear can create a cycle where the individual feels compelled to meet unrealistic standards set by themselves or others, resulting in chronic anxiety and stress
- Comparison with Others: Constantly comparing oneself to others can exacerbate feelings of inferiority. This pattern leads to overgeneralization—believing that one’s worth is solely based on how they measure up against peers—further entrenching feelings of shame and low self-esteem
- Humiliation and Shame: Experiences of humiliation can evoke intense negative emotions that linger long after the event. Humiliation often involves a perceived loss of status or respect, which can lead to a deep-seated sense of injustice and anger towards oneself or others. This can manifest as avoidance behaviors or aggression, creating a complex emotional response that is difficult to navigate

1wThanks Sangita Sarkar for sharing this, as the proverb says "It takes a village to raise a child" that means that an entire community of people must provide for and interact positively with children for those children to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment. Similarly the onus lies not just with the manager of an employee but also everyone in the organization, especially to give young talent an opportunity to blossom and grow in their career and as a person too. A collective effort builds rhe organization culture fostering mutual respect and growth opportunities for all involved.
