NEOM Now Edition 3: A new chapter for tourism, travel and nature

Where does the time go? We’re already on Edition 3 of NEOM Now, and our plans for a new future are coming together nicely.

This month, we attended key events to share NEOM's plans to change the future of tourism, as well as sharing our appreciation of the Earth. Take a look at what we’ve been up to:

At NEOM, our plans are always ambitious. Our announcement at Dubai’s Arabian Travel Market was no exception.

We hosted many people at our stand, sharing how we’re building the tourism destination of the future. Meanwhile, on the stage, our experts told a captivated audience how we will be using cutting-edge technology to deliver regenerative tourism.

Riyadh’s Greening Arabia event took note, as we revealed our unmatched conservation goals.

We shared our plans for a greener future at the Greening Arabia event in Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center, and what an incredible audience turnout we achieved.

As our Head of Nature, Dr Paul Marshall told the world

“NEOM is such an exciting project to be part of because it's the world's largest development project, but done in harmony with nature and showing that you can actually do large-scale economic development without ruining nature. That's a fantastic thing to show the world, and we can set a new benchmark so that we can do it here and then other places can do it too.”

We also announced that – in partnership with the National Center for Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification – that we will not only plant 100 million native trees across the region, but NEOM will restore 1.5 million hectares of land. We really believe that nature has to come first.

NEOM is an accelerator of planetary regeneration.

June is always an incredibly special month for us. With both World Environment Day and World Oceans Day falling in June, we took the opportunity to shine a light on one of NEOM’s key pillars: conservation.

For World Environment Day, we announced to the world how 95% of NEOM will be protected for nature. That means designing our region to protect, preserve and regenerate the native wildlife and precious ecosystems forever.

We also shared a recap of our Red Sea OceanX expedition for World Oceans Day. With over 960 hours of underwater research from our team of scientists, we made some incredible discoveries.

Last but not least, we encourage you to slow down and appreciate the amazing world around you. For it’s easy to take its beauty for granted, especially with all of today’s distractions. Take a look below and enjoy some peaceful time to reflect on how lucky we are.

And there you have it, that was the month of May. It was an incredible four weeks, and we’ve got lots more happenings on the horizon.
