Networking the key to success
Networking_ Nourishing your Future
What is networking?
Networking is the process of connecting and interacting with people to expand your sphere of connections to further your knowledge and career. By networking you are able to identify and connect with people who have similar interests as yours as well identify people who can be a mentor or coach in your career ambitions.
The current era:
These are challenging times. The world is progressing at rapid speed. Technology is moving faster than human’s ability to catch up. And the knowledge and people are Global. Personal meetings are becoming very difficult due to travel, distances, costs, time and more recently the COVID pandemic.
There is also an increasing need for people to connect at different levels depending on the project they are working on or research. For a student the levels of connections could be peers, professors and hiring professionals or even mentors, coaches. But for an executive it can be a C suite, or mentors or candidates. For a research scholar the need for networking is very much since they need to connect to different organizations and people. And finally for a spiritual seeker they need to network with many learned people initially to do their search although eventually they may go silent and others will seek to network with them.
And anyone who is in this world in sales, marketing, teaching, coaching, mentoring needs to network across the globe or locally depending on their target territory to get lead or make a sale or conduct a session or webinar.
Tools for networking:
There are a number of social networking sites where you can make great professional contacts and based on one's need you pick the right ones. Some are designated as networking sites. The leader in this pack is “linkedin” and followed by facebook,Instagram,Twitter, Gmail, Youtube, Whatsapp and others
The tools that are popular and more effective is when one can interact rather than one sided message. So messenger and chat feature becomes very important in the tools one wants to use.
Why networking is important:
● If you do not do networking no one will know you or find you

Most importantly remember:
From my personal experience:
The internet is a public space. They are called social networking sites for a reason. It is becoming commonplace for employers to do an online search for candidates before making job offers.
● Before putting on social media information about yourself carefully make sure there is nothing that will hurt you in future. Once given in social media information remains forever.
● Make sure your online profile is consistent across social media including Pictures and writeups
● Make sure that you are detail oriented, do spell checks and grammar . ( for example if you are applying to become a top writer you cannot have spelling mistakes in your profile)
● Get yourself branded by writing articles in social media in forums and groups
● Get endorsements and recommendations from your peers, professors that project your inner strengths .
