Never Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table by Olusola Opaleye
"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows."-Psalm 23:5, English Standard Version
When a person stands firm in their conviction of God, whether in times of divine intervention or uncertainty, they begin to draw the attention of their adversaries. While enemies may always lurk nearby, God's blessings can still manifest, even in their presence.
During challenging times, there's often the temptation to engage with the enemy, inviting him to your table to discuss the circumstances of your life and to compare yourself unfavorably to others. However, our deliverance lies in keeping the enemy at a distance, away from the seat reserved for us by God.
We learn from the example of Paul and Silas that praise and worship are not merely ceremonial; they should be our attitude in both good and bad times. Amid afflictions and troubles, our fellowship with God remains paramount, whether in abundance or in adversity.
Just as the Psalmist experienced, God's presence is assured. Despite the lurking enemies, God remains unperturbed. It's common for humans to face life's trials, but our focus should remain on the menu set before us at the Lord's table, not on the distractions of the enemy.
In moments of despair, when giving up seems inevitable, how joyful it is to hear the Father's whisper, inviting us to sit and eat! At His table, the grip of comparison loosens, for we dine with the Father of light, in whom there is no shadow of change.
Our seat reservation at God's table came at a great cost—the sacrifice of His Son. It's a consequence of heaven's desire to connect with humanity.

When we allow the devil a place at our table, we risk being misled and distracted from intimacy with God. His presence shifts our focus away from God's daily provisions.
Thoughts for thoughts, the Scriptures for the devil's suggestions, that's how we exchange the enemies ideas with the truth in the Word.
Seize the opportunity of your reservation and dine with God. Remaining in fellowship with the Father is the surest way to keep the enemy at bay.
When we fix our gaze on God at the table, the presence of the enemy becomes insignificant. It is inconsequential if the devil owns the restaurant, what matters is that God occupies the seat at your table.
