Never Stop Dreaming & Believing In Yourself
Today, exactly 4 years ago in 2016, I got this beautiful machine delivered to me.
Together we have traveled to many states in India in the last 4 years. Experienced different weather conditions from extreme hot to extreme cold, from Kashmir (Leh Ladakh) to Kanyakumari.
In the early stage of my riding, I met with a major accident during my Bangalore to KanyaKumari ride. The accident happened at the highway while coming back from Kanyakumari, Tamilnadu to Bangalore in Jan 2017. My right leg and hand got fractured badly, 150 km before Madurai at around 1.30 PM on Saturday 28 Jan 2017.
I was fortunate enough to come out alive in that accident. The battle started from there. My bike got completely damaged on the right side and the headlight came out completely.
Few local Tamilian students saw me & helped me to get the bike moved from the highway and offered me water. I was fortunate to be traveling with one of my college friend who was a little behind at that time. I called him and he then started looking for help. I called Bangalore KTM from where I bought the bike & they advised to take the bike to the nearest KTM service center which was Madurai KTM approximately 150 km from the place where the accident happened.
I called Madurai KTM service center and since it was Saturday KTM Service Centre people at Madurai said they will close at 5 PM. I kept on requesting them again and again over the call. In the mean while, we got a local guy with an auto carrier who agreed to drop me & the bike at Madurai KTM service center. Because I wanted to go home as soon as possible and at the same time my leg & hand were panting heavily. I sat with the auto guy who only speaks only Tamil. Though I do not understand the language we became friends during that 150 km journey, he told me many stories on why life is precious and should take calculative risks since we all have a family. It was raining that day. On the other hand, my friend kept on following us on his bike. After multiple requests Madurai KTM folks kept their Service Centre open for me. We reached there around 8 PM. They offered me an office room to take rest by seeing my condition. I asked them to fix the bike's head light and lock so that I can ride back to home i.e. Bangalore which was 350 km away and give the bike for full service, since that was a time taking process & bike was damaged completely. By 10 PM they fixed the bike and it was ready to go, though the right side of the bike was completely broken.
I & my friend started again around 10.30 PM and once we touched the highway we had our dinner. I was barely able to walk. Whenever my foot touched the ground while riding it felt like electricity is passing through my body. We then continued our ride till Karur, Tamilnadu at 1.30 AM but we had to stop due to extremely heavy rain. It was getting impossible to see the road in high beams in the heavy rain. An old man agreed to give us shelter in his temple till morning at 4 AM. It kept on raining that day. I could not sleep the entire night due to the extreme pain and wanted that time to pass as quickly as possible. We started our journey again in the morning after having Tea and apart from refueling, we did not stop anywhere until Bangalore which was 320 km approximately. As soon as I reached home I had been taken to the hospital by my family & the doctor confirmed the fracture.
I had to take more than a month's rest at home which was a challenge for a person like me who travels alot. When after a month or so first time I sat on the bike I was feeling I can not ride it anymore but I tried and rode the bike I was feeling terrified & my hands were trembling. I could not ride for more than 10 mins & came back home. At that time many people advised me not to ride a motorcycle anymore. To overcome the fear I did my first 2000 Kms ride from Bangalore to Mumbai on the same day in Jan 2018 when I met with an accident in 2017.
From that day to today We completed many journeys together. In July 2018, I registered my name among a very few Bikers who rode from Bangalore to Leh Ladakh alone in 17 days covering 15+ states and 7893.5 kms non stop which was one of dream I had for a long time.
