New Day,
New Year,
New Beginning.

New Day, New Year, New Beginning.

To say 2020 has been a difficult year would be a massive understatement. As we continue to navigate through this pandemic and try to accept our new norms, let’s use this time to reflect on what is truly important and appreciate how resilient we have become. While this is not to imply that some positive aspects of this pandemic in any way balance out the terrible consequences suffered by individuals and society, we can seek out the glimmers of silver linings.

This year has given the world an opportunity to reset, rejuvenate, and heal itself. It has forced people to slow down and give them time to think about what is most important to them. Health and livelihood are luxuries these days and it’s become clearer to many that having those things can truly empower a meaningful life.

In healthcare, the true compassion, courage, love, and knowledge displayed by frontline healthcare professionals has been incredible. They continue to display resiliency despite being significantly understaffed and underprepared while caring for our most vulnerable citizens. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated medical professionals, scientists, and public health officials around the world.

People are going above and beyond in every way to help one another. Supermarket runs for those who are unable to leave their home, neighbors and friends cooking meals for those in need, and distributing gift cards to those unemployed. The constant display of gratitude to essential workers that are exhausted, yet going to work everyday to serve our communities, without complaint or hesitation day after day. The endless acts of generosity and outpouring of empathy is a reflection that kindness always prevails.

The ability to slow down has allowed us to genuinely connect with people, both personally and professionally. We’ve gained a greater sense of appreciation for family now since we must spend time with each other in such an unexpected way. Less commuting and working from home has translated to quality family time for many parents while remote learning has allowed many parents to be more involved in their children’s education and growth. Many of us have quickly come to realize how time is truly precious. The pandemic has certainly brought us together in a way we wouldn’t be otherwise.

This past year has forced us to be innovative, pivot and act quickly and we will continue to do so. Moments of crisis remind us to look backward with humility. Ultimately, the silver lining will be defined in how truly we rise. We will rise.

May the year 2021 bring a fresh start, new aspirations, and inspiring successes. I wish tremendous joy and good health for you and your family in 2021. May you all have an amazing year ahead!
