New Year New Beginnings

New Year New Beginnings

Join me for the "Thinking Differently in a New Year" on January 19 @ 11 AM EST. Must pre-register HERE.

What is really “new” about the New Year? The day has the same 24 hours. The Sun and the Moon rotate as usual. Night and day switch as before. With close observation, not much really “new” shows itself in the natural order of things.

The “new beginnings” are happening in the human mindset and motivation to do differently and better. The New Year becomes a symbolic fresh start, universally accepted by most cultures and generations.

Could it be that our collective consciousness makes us feel like there are changes in the air?

The scientific experiences of mass influence have shown that collective conditioning creates an impact on individual states, thoughts, and behaviors. While we universally “agree” to start fresh - the energy behind thousands of intentions helps us to follow through and take a different path. That is why January feels fresh new, and full of hope.

What is individual to every person is the decision on what to focus this energy: exercise or diet, work or relationships, writing a book or running a marathon?

As we are in the season of “new beginnings" what are you choosing to change in your personal and professional life? How would you choose to approach sales, marketing, and leadership this fresh work year?

Here is a simple 15-minute plan to make your “new beginning” swift and positive:

  1. Time 5 minutes and write down what worked well in the previous year. Here is your “Routine list” to keep.
  2. Then start 5 minutes again and write down what you would like to see more or better.
  3. Sort the previous list in the order of priorities (for you, your family, and your colleagues). Here is your “Action plan.”
  4. Share both lists with at least three people (both personal and professional contacts) and ask them to check in with you in early February. Here is your accountability pressure to keep things moving.
  5. Re-assess both lists in February and re-set the plan for the next month. Go month by month and start fresh again.

The energy and intention of the New year are powerful but short-lived. The above plan will help you keep the momentum throughout the year, month-to-month, and not just in January.

Planning, accountability, and consistency are the keys to getting done anything you desire. Are you up for the challenge of starting a lasting change?

And remember to celebrate what went well each month. Acknowledging the progress is part of the win and, perhaps, even treating yourself to something pleasant.
