New Year and New Government Means New Vibes and New Hopes!!

I have just returned to US from Brazil where I spent the holidays with family and friends. During my visit I experienced a very interesting feeling with the locals! The Brazilian people were filled with excitement and full of hopes for the new year, the new government, and a lot of excitement for the coming year in the hopes of a better tomorrow.

This feeling has spread from the locals and flowed into the private sector. Businesses are confident in a future with rising GDP growth and the media is going crazy monitoring every move of the new government.

After 32 years from when the new constitution was written, mostly by liberal parties, Brazil has inaugurated a conservative president by popular vote. The new government has a vast cabinet of military members filled with many conservative pro-business ideas. Very Impressive!

The new president is coming into office with many promises, among them include shrinking government spending, increasing police and security presence in cities, rising GDP growth, a focus in reduction of corruption, and a change in how Brasilia’s Congress works. It seems as if someone else was selling this same idea ten years ago…

It seems today presidents are keen to use platforms like Twitter to communicate and lead their nations, nothing wrong with that, and it makes my life easy… Now I only need to follow two accounts on social media!!!

The new government’s vibe has massively increased consumer confidence. The Brazilian stock market has reached a record high. Companies are now intending to increase their investments in Brazil’s economy. The political relationship between Brazil and the US has reached a new level where we will see an increase in cross-border transactions and foreign direct investment (FDI) treaties. Sounds great! I am looking forward to this new era!
