ACCIONA ENERGÍA’S MACINTYRE WIND FARM STARTS GENERATING ELECTRICITY

Starting with this fantastic news just in from Australia: the first 27 wind turbine generators at the ACCIONA Energía McIntyre Wind Farm in Queensland are connected to the grid and producing renewable energy. And this is just the start. In 12 months’ time, it will have reached full capacity and will then be the biggest wind farm in the southern hemisphere.

ACCIONA SECURES €300 MILLION IN SUSTAINABLE FINANCING FOR PROJECTS IN THE GULF COOPERATION COUNCIL AREA

We’re also delighted to report that we’ve obtained new sustainable financing to support important projects in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. What most enthuses us about this operation is its focus on local impact, since part of the profits are linked to supporting suppliers in the area in the development of low or zero carbon emission construction materials.

ACCIONA ENERGÍA COMMISSIONS NEW WIND-SOLAR HYBRID PLANT IN CUENCA (SPAIN)

You may not have heard about hybridization in the context of renewables - yet. It consists of combining wind farms and solar photovoltaic plants in the same place. In this way, we can optimize our use of the electricity grid, reduce the environmental footprint of the facilities and maximize renewable energy. ACCIONA Energía, committed to this type of electricity generation, now has a second such installation, at Peralejo wind farm.

ACCIONA.ORG LAUNCHES COMPREHENSIVE REGENERATION PROJECT IN MEXICO

Our corporate foundation, acciona.org, continues to perform an indispensable effort in the remote communities of the planet. 190 families in San Juan Lalana (Oaxaca, Mexico) now have potable water and sanitation in their homes thanks to the small supply networks, domestic purification facilities and dry baths installed by the foundation.

MOSSIA AND BANE NOR CELEBRATE THE BREAKTHROUGH IN THE CARLBERG TUNNEL, ON THE RAILWAY LINE THAT ACCIONA IS BUILDING IN NORWAY

The advances our tunnel boring machines are making throughout the world are one of the big hits of this newsletter and every time a new milestone is reached we are only too delighted to share it here. This month the news comes from Norway. ACCIONA is celebrating the progress it has made in the Carlberg Tunnel, achieving the entry of light from the far southern end of the tunnel. Congrats #ACCIONAteam!

The Adelaide desal in southern Australia is now guaranteeing water supply in the region. Embedded like a sentinel in the top of a cliff 50 meters above sea level, it can cover 4% of water supply in a normal year, but has become an insurance policy for residents of the area. Want to know more?
