Newsletter Nov. 22, 2024

From sustainable denim innovation to the growing trend of nearshoring in Europe, discover how the industry is evolving and what it means for brands, manufacturers, and consumers. I'm also excited for my 10th year at ISPO Munich, where you can meet with six of my fourteen manufacturing partners to explore new opportunities and discuss future collaborations.

West Swedish and Norwegian Oslo based Brands in Growth

Last week, I went on my monthly roadshow, this time to western Sweden and Oslo, where I visited twenty of the strongest Nordic fashion, sports, and outdoor brands. The trip was a great success, and most of the brands chose to explore potential collaborations with one or more of my fourteen manufacturing partners.

It was encouraging to hear that the majority of the brands now are predominantly experiencing growth, with only a few expecting stable revenue compared to last year, and just one brand expecting a sales decline.

Valued at $27.1 billion in 2022, the global denim market is expected to soar past $35 billion by 2027. But behind every pair of jeans lies a complex and often overlooked environmental impact, from fiber sourcing to washes and finishes.

Near Sourcing in Europe: Why Investing Closer to Home can Future Proof Supply Chains

Amid global unease and increasing consumer demand for transparency, brands are getting ahead and moving their manufacturing closer to home, increasing speed to market and reducing their impact in the process.

As global uncertainty continues, many brands are turning to nearshoring, marking a return to European manufacturing for many. The fallout from the Covid-19 crisis, ongoing conflicts, and rising tensions in Asia have stretched the traditional global supply chain. Brands are now seeking greater oversight, autonomy, and solutions that offer more control over production. At the same time, new and incoming legislation in the fashion industry is driving the need for enhanced transparency.
