NEXT PROJECT WITH PAT
I met Pat Ward around 17 years ago. While having lunch at Gypsy Bistro he saw my paintings, contacted me then dramatically changed the trajectory of my career and life.
We’ve worked on many exciting projects over the years. For 10 years he sponsored a charity calendar featuring my work with 100% of the donations going to www.hopethiopia.com (over $1.2 million was raised). Along with AltaGas, his (former) company Painted Pony Energy sponsored chuckwagon driver Gary Gorst at the 2017, 2018 and 2019 Calgary Stampede Rangeland derby then commissioned paintings that were reproduced on Gary’s wagon tarps, etc.
In his ongoing desire to make a difference, Pat has teamed up with Barbara Pohl, senior director of community engagement at the Calgary Police Service to help work on their charity calendars. CPS is now publishing 3 calendars: 1) Mounted Unit, 2) Traffic Section/motorcycle and 3) Canine: https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/calgary-police-calendars...
I’m happy to report that Ive been recruited to work on the 2024 Mounted Unit calendar. At the least, I will donate a custom painting of an officer on horseback for the cover (to be auctioned at a future fundraiser) and perhaps more.
