The prestigious Child of Wales 2024 awards took place on Friday, 27th September, at Swansea Arena, marking an unforgettable evening filled with inspiration, celebration, and admiration for some of the nation's most exceptional young individuals. The event brought together attendees from all walks of life, including celebrities, dignitaries, and business leaders, who gathered to honour the courage, resilience, and achievements of children and young people from across Wales.
The night began in spectacular fashion, with a dazzling red carpet arrival, followed by a gala awards dinner. Attendees were treated to an evening of top-tier entertainment, including performances by the UK soul legend Beverley Knight MBE, who lit up the stage with her powerful vocals, and the Child of Wales Awards Choir, who provided a moving and uplifting musical backdrop. The talented singer-songwriter Steve Balsamo also graced the audience with a heartfelt performance, rounding off an evening of exceptional music.
Reflecting on the significance of the awards, Alfie Thomas said, “This event was an emotional and humbling experience. The courage and determination these young people show is truly inspirational, and it reminds us all of the importance of coming together to support and celebrate one another. It’s an honour to be part of such a special evening.”
Hosted by the beloved Welsh TV presenter Gethin Jones, the evening was as much about entertainment as it was about celebrating the extraordinary stories of bravery and perseverance. The awards highlighted the inspiring young people who, despite facing significant challenges, continue to defy the odds and shine as role models in their communities.
