NMSC Scholar Event: Chicago Reception
National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) hosted a gathering of Scholars at a reception held at the Chicago Club in Chicago, Illinois. It brought together local Scholars from every decade of the program to meet each other and hear about NMSC’s mission to recognize and honor the academically talented students of the United States.
This event was an excellent opportunity for Scholar attendees from different backgrounds and with varying occupations to network and learn more about each other and NMSC. NMSC staff shared information with attendees about the National Merit Scholarship Program, the future of NMSC, and the impact that Scholar recognition has on students. Dacey Arashiba, a Scholar who helps provide IT assistance to NMSC, shared his academic and career journey including the impact of his National Merit Scholarship award.
We hope to see more Scholars at upcoming in-person events in New York and the San Francisco Bay area starting in early 2025. Recently, NMSC also hosted an online Scholar Forum, "The Future of Communication," with two Scholar experts in marketing and communications. NMSC is planning future forums on a wide range of topics.
NMSC wants to thank the Scholars who attended the Chicago Reception, and we look forward to more in-person events in the future. Our Scholars continue to impress us with their many accomplishments, and we hope these events will spark great conversations and innovations among these hard-working individuals.

1moChristine Grauer, LL.M. brings up a great question: what locations should NMSC come to next? We have NYC on the docket for February 5th and SF Bay Area in spring/summer. But where do you think we would get a great turnout or be able to host an impactful networking event?

1moHow fabulous! I hope you hold an event for National Merit Scholars in DC soon - I would love to attend and connect with fellow scholars in the region.
