🗒️ Notes on Community

Happy Friday to you! Community is something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. If you’ve been following me for a while now, you may have noticed that I’ve tried time and time again to build community. For over 15 years I’ve been starting communities that would fizzle out because my priorities would shift, I’d get too busy, and then I’d try something else until the cycle started over again.

I’ve learned over the years that I am a teacher at heart. A mentor. It’s something I love to do and I feel like it’s my purpose for being on this earth. In order to foster that thought, I need to figure out how to incorporate that sustainably into this season of my life.

That got me to thinking, which of course means I turned to Jill for her infinite wisdom. Our conversation lead me to the idea of a retreat. It would be held annually, either in the same location or a different one each year, hosted by me, and a community could be built around this event.

If we move forward with this idea, what would you want us to teach? What activities would you like to do with us? What would be the ideal number of participants? What time of year would you want it to be?\

I’m looking forward to seeing what your thoughts and suggestions are – just hit that comment button and let me know.

Other notes from this week…

📖 Don't Trust Your Gut by Seth Stephens-Davidowitz If you know me, you know I love data but I also believe in following your inner truth. Some of the arguments posed in this book are, in a word, fascinating.

🍑Alcarràs I watched this movie on the plane back from NYC to London and LOVED it! You would never believe that these actors aren’t professionals. 🤯

🔪 Knives Out We’re a little late with this one but Jill, the boys, and I were obsessed with this movie! We can’t wait to watch Glass Onion next.

One last thing… I know you may be thinking, “Paul, you’ve been teasing us with some kind of announcement. So where is it?” It’s still coming! I’ve just needed a little extra time to get all of my ducks in a row. I appreciate your patience and can’t wait to share the excitement with you! Make sure to sign up for my newsletter. 😉

See you next week!

I would love to explore creativity and innovation in terms of individual personal development and how to manifest positive impact on quality of life.

I'd be up for learning more about your understanding of relationship science and how to apply in different aspects of life - in work, relationships, with friends, communities.

Wow, love the idea of a retreat - your family vlogs of places around England were amazing - so perhaps your favourite places from there would be enjoyable. Like the idea of 20 -25 people, large enough for a community feel yet still intimate. In terms of ideas, I'm thinking as we reach milestone years we share experiences, knowledge, know-how....so we engage better in the next half decade/decade ahead...more prepared and learned from others, so we don't waste time reinventing the wheel but focus on the things that personally matter and going to add the best value to our lives. Topics...love, self confidence, careers, health, retirement planning, relationships, parenting ....our footprint on the world...our legacy.
