So, here is what happened.
I’ve got asked if I’d like to write an article for the #UnapologeticWomanRempowermentMagazine and as I know and adore the publisher, Elle Nagy , AND had something to say, I said ‘yes’.
The theme for the issue was NAKED which means that every author wrote an article of their own interpretation of what NAKED means to them.
They wrote about self-growth, self-acceptance, struggles in life, challenges in business.
What popped up in my head was ‘Beyond Naked’.
I thought about the thoughts, the self-doubts, the self-shame, the crippling feelings that so many of us go through when it comes to GETTING naked.
The drama and horror scenarios that play out in our mind, fully supported by turmoil in our body.
Yes, I’ve you’ve been there, you know what I mean…
While I was very excited about my little masterpiece (the short and extended version), when I gave it ‘some people’ to read, I got nothing but criticism:
Too much moaning.
Too much of the same.
No value for the reader.
No steps to get out of that state.
It’s too far fetched.
It’s boring.
You’re not good at this.
Give it to someone to fix it.
Yes… a bit soul-crushing. Doubts filling my head. Tears on the brink of escaping.
I decided to sleep on it.
The morning came and I sent it to Elle.
I didn’t change a word.
I told her that, if she agrees with ‘the others’, she should not publish it.
And by the looks of it, she didn’t agree with ‘the others’ as my “terrible” article (short version) is published in issue 6 of the Unapologetic Woman Rempowerment Magazine.
But, don’t let my personal opinion be the judge of it - judge for yourself! (page 72)
