 Chile and Peru

The Future of Fish team in Peru received a grant from the The Old Dart Foundation to continue our community development work in La Islilla. We know that healthy oceans and healthy communities go hand in hand, which is why the team in Peru works with women and youth in coastal communities to build leadership capacity for socio-economic improvements.

In Chile, the artisanal fishing sector struggles with marketing, often dependent on intermediaries who dictate market access and pricing. To address this, our team in Chile created a “Commercial Maturity Tool” to help groups achieve commercial independence in selling their products. Learn more about how this tool analyses assets, marketing, business management and resilience (Spanish post).

Join Future of Fish Chile's Ivan Greco on Pato's boat in Puerto Gala, exploring the fishing life and challenges faced by local communities. Discover efforts to preserve traditional fishing amidst industry crises and enjoy a taste of camaraderie. Read more about Ivan's experience.
