Did you hear the news? LinkedIn has now hit ONE BILLION MEMBERS!! That said, we all know they continue to work on the elimination of fake profiles - an ongoing effort, for sure. But, still, this is a significant milestone to recognize in their 20-year history. So, what does this mean to you?

A trip to Orlando (with a side of Cirque du Soleil,) and another to Nassau (with a side of turquoise saltwater,) will give me my two 'daughter fixes' since they are unable to come home! LINKEDIN TIPS
TIP 1 - GET VERIFIED! There is an easy, quick process through which you can help LinkedIn in their quest to eliminate fake profiles AND add more validation to your presence on LinkedIn. You may notice that many LinkedIn members now have a 'shield with a checkmark' following their last name. That stands for ID Verification and proves that you are viewing a true, real profile of a legitimate member. TIP 2 - PEOPLE ALSO VIEWED Two ways to look at this Privacy & Settings Control:
1.) Do you want to have a list of members 'Who were also viewed,' after you, displayed on the right margin of your profile? Very often, many will be competitors or members with the same skill set as yours because of the way Organic Searches work. OR would you rather not display that list? We prefer the latter, but it's a personal choice. Job Seekers would do well to choose NOT to display their competition, yes?! You wouldn't want to attract HR folks to your profile only to offer them 20 more possible candidates right from your own profile, right?

2.) You're an expert at something and rather like seeing other popular or well-known experts listed right alongside you. To each, his own!
Check this setting: Tap Me in the Navigation bar > choose Settings & Privacy > Scroll down and tap People Also Viewed > and you'll see no explanation from LinkedIn! LinkedIn tracks everyone. Once you're on a profile, they will watch for the next profile you view and list a thumbnail of it on the right margin of the previous profile. We think they mean well, just trying to help members find who they need by suggesting 'similar' members. But, again, it's your choice! And they don't explain the significance of the choice so we hope you'll appreciate our tip.
TIP 3 - ADD PROFILE SECTION
We're fast approaching year-end. Time to review your profile content, top to bottom. If you have done any of the following, be sure to display this information in its own section. HOW: Available under your geographic area at the top of your profile, look for Add Profile Section. Be sure to tap EACH choice! Everything is a template and super-easy to complete and Save. Many of these options will serve to further validate your expertise - don't be bashful! My personal favorite is Volunteering (buried under 'Additional') and whether past or present, this section will show Viewers what you really care about enough to make time to do. Volunteering speaks volumes about your character.
