November Insights: Reflecting on a Busy October and Exciting Events Ahead!
Hello, everyone!
First, I want to extend my apologies for not sending out an October newsletter. The end of September and the start of October were packed with exciting events and opportunities, keeping me busier than ever! Here’s a recap of what I’ve been up to recently, as well as a peek at what’s coming up in November.
October Highlights
I was honoured to play a part in helping to revive the Bourne Business Network Group and attended a fantastic first meeting in October. Jo Humphrey 💃💻 gave a very informative talk on LinkedIn which I gained a lot from! With the meetings now set for the first Monday of each month, I won’t be able to attend the next few sessions, but I want to wish Mitesh Chauhan and Dina Chauhan every success as they continue building this fantastic network.
Elsom Seeds Open Day
In early October, I had the pleasure of attending the Elsoms Seeds Ltd Open Day in Spalding. This event showcased some of the best vegetable varieties in the UK, providing insights into the latest innovations in the vegetable industry. Many thanks to Andrew Harris for the invite- it was a wonderful day connecting with industry experts and even taking home a couple of pumpkins! 🎃
UK FPN Festival of Agriculture
As an exhibitor, I attended the UK FPN Festival of Agriculture at Springfields Conference Centre. Thank you, Tammy Dawson - Doughty and Andrew Harris for the invitation. It was fantastic to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new people in the agricultural sector, and enjoy an amazing lunch. The pumpkin carving contest with local Grammar School students was also a highlight - they certainly made use of the pens at my table!
The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade Graduation 2024
I was thrilled to be invited to the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade Graduation at Mansion House in London. A big thank you to Marcel Landau and the IOE Foundation for this inspiring evening. It was truly motivating to hear about the Foundation’s work in supporting young people to pursue successful careers in international trade. Congratulations to all the graduates!
Sconnections Event at Doubletree by Hilton, Lincoln
Last week, I had a fantastic time at the "Sconnections" event, where attendees heard from the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce Charities of the Year - Acts Trust and Cash for Kids. It was inspiring to learn about their impactful work, and the afternoon tea was a delightful way to wrap up the event and we were encouraged to take leftovers home. My son and husband were thrilled, and the macarons barely hit the table before disappearing! Thank you Emily B. and Nic Pennock for a great event.

Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce Event in Spalding
Also last week, I joined the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce at Chain Bridge Forge and the Cley Hall Hotel in Spalding. It was fascinating to dive into the world of blacksmithing, both hands-on and through VR headsets! Thank you to Gareth Laking for organising a really informative event!
What’s Coming Up in November
This November brings several meaningful dates to honour as well as celebrate.
On Remembrance Sunday (🌺) and Remembrance Day (Veterans Day in the U.S.), like many, i will be remembering family members who served in both the UK and US armed forces, reflecting on their sacrifices and dedication.
Later in the month, on 28th November, we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving in our household - a nod to my US heritage and a fun practice run for Christmas dinner timings if I’m trying out anything new this year!
Finally, for my Scottish connections, St. Andrew’s Day on 30th November will be another day to celebrate the heritage.
The Business Show/Going Global
On November 13th, I will be attending The Business Show London and Going Global Live at the ExCel. I always look forward to this show and connecting with professionals from various sectors and gaining insights to enhance DCM Support Services as well as the informative talks - including one by Levi Roots!
Mock Interviews in Grantham
On November 21st, I’ll be assisting Mel Papworth with mock interviews for Year 10 students at a secondary school in Grantham. I am looking forward to the opportunity to help guide students as they practice for future career opportunities. Hopefully I won't come across like Linda Plant on The Apprentice!
Other Exciting News
I recently completed the Small and Mighty Programme with Small Business Britain and Anglia Ruskin University . As a result, I have been invited to a Winter Celebration with other members of the cohort being held at the House of Lords in January - a very pleasant surprise and I am very much looking forward to the event!
Wishing everyone a fantastic November.
