Now, more than ever

Now, more than ever

I'm writing this on Tuesday 17th March 2020.

Today happens to be my mother's birthday. A day when we would meet up and either go for lunch or dinner, or both. A day that usually always involved laughs, chocolate and coffee.

But of of course today is not a usual Tuesday.

In light of Covid-19, we are living in a new normal. One that we all hope will not last too long.

We are inundated with information, updates and even memes on the virus and what we need to do. We are concerned about what this means for our jobs, day to day lives and the future.

With all these thoughts, concerns, fears, ideas and challenges, it is very easy to spiral into anxiety, depression and panic.

We also have choice.

Now, more than ever we can choose to :

  • manage what and how much social media we watch
  • leave WhatsApp groups that don't add value to our lives
  • stop distracting notifications sounds
  • display leadership in our words and actions
  • be thoughtful when shopping
  • be kind instead of being curt and nervous
  • practice being positive, motivating communicators
  • be in present in all interactions
  • learn new technologies so their are no interruptions to business
  • to read the books that are laying around in the house or on your reading device
  • become more aware of your body language especially if doing video calls
  • do more online courses
  • move and exercise every day
  • spend time in the garden
  • help those in need
  • ask if someone needs help
  • play with your children instead of being glued to a device
  • get back in touch with old friends
  • stay in touch with family and loved ones
  • pray more
  • use the time we had for commuting for something uplifting

These are the behaviours of winners and people who are determined to make the best of any situation.

If you'd like to get some quick and easy ways to increase the effectiveness of your face to face and online communication in a world where we have to be aware of proximity and social distancing, check out my latest video.

More than ever, this is the time to prepare to be an even more productive citizen and engaging communicator.

We're all going through this tunnel together.

Let's be stronger and smarter for it when we get out!

As always, your success is at the heart and mind of everything I do.

Very inspiring write up on what to do with the extra time we all may have now. Spend it reflecting on how to become a better version of oneself and develop positive attributes that may better aid in daily life.
