Vocational Teacher Education: An Imperative for Skill Development

We offer vocational trainer education in two key areas: domain-specific skills and pedagogical skills, often referred to as platform skills in the skills framework. While professionals in the industry possess technical expertise in their respective domains, they may need to learn about effective teaching and learning processes. Our program aims to bridge this gap by providing a grounding in educational practices. Few people perceived the program as only relevant to arts and similar segments. We understood the importance of the teaching-learning process and its valuable insights, leading us to incorporate education into our vocational trainers' on-the-job learning actively. As a result, our vocational trainer education now includes platform and domain-specific skills.

How NITTTR is empowering Technical Teacher Training in India
In the realm of technical education, the role of competent and skilled teachers cannot be overstated. Recognizing this pivotal role, the Government of India established the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), an autonomous institution aimed at elevating the standards of technical education across the nation.
A Brief Overview
NITTTR, headquartered in Chandigarh, operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Established in 1967, it was envisioned as a hub for nurturing excellence in technical education through innovative training programs, research initiatives, and capacity-building activities.
Teacher Training: NITTTR conducts comprehensive training programs designed to empower technical teachers with contemporary teaching methodologies, curriculum development techniques, and assessment strategies. Malaviya Mission-Teacher Training Program launched by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and UGC
Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, launched The Malaviya Mission - Teacher Training Program at Kaushal Bhawan in New Delhi, along with the program's dedicated portal and released its informational brochure.
This initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, was organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to deliver tailored training programs for educators. The program's primary focus is to enhance the skills and capabilities of faculty members within higher education institutions (HEIs) through targeted capacity-building efforts.

School level pre-vocational education through life skills
We provide teacher training through TOTs (Training of Trainers) programs. It is recommended that the regular teacher of the respective class should conduct these sessions because they are familiar with the curriculum and students. The training programs are conducted both in-person and online.
