NYSIA Updates

NYSIA Updates

Arbicare attended the New York Self-Insured Association Annual Meeting last week in New York City. Some good information to pass along.

Key Takeaways:

MTGs - PTSD and Acute Stress Disorder

  • Goldberg Segalla discussed the new MTGs that became available on 5/2/2022.
  • There is early evidence that the Board is looking directly to the MTGs to navigate diagnosis criteria and definitions of PTSD / ASD (pg. 17).
  • Providers must document specific criteria laid out by the guidelines.  Look for it, use it.

Cannabis in the Workplace

Providers must request cannabis as a Medication PAR.  Therefore, it must be appealed by the provider to arrive at Level 2.

Judges are denying cannabis requests for insufficient documentation.  Most common are:

  • The IW doesn't have a registered ID Card
  • The provider doesn't document why FDA approved medications aren’t sufficient
  • There are no details or dosage frequency provided

OnBoard Updates

  • Email updates went into effect on 1/13/2023.
  • The email subject line now includes the PAR “Status” and the “WCB Case ID”
  • The body of the email now includes “Due Date”
  • The Board has added Employer Name and Medication columns to the payer dashboards. This allows users to view this information directly on the dashboard without needing to select each individual PAR
