On May 10, 2019, the 86th anniversary of the Nazis' book burning occurs. On May 10, 1933, humanistic literature went up in flames. In the present moment censorship against authors takes place again in many parts of the world, art lands on the virtual pyre of populists, culture is suppressed.


On this day, neighbors of the Berlin Charlottenburg Schillerstraße 12 to 15, read together with friends, artists, authors, musicians, and people with various professions from books and documents. We read in the salon ALEXANDER OCHS at Schillertrasse 15 from sunrise at 5.19 am until sunset at 8.45 pm. The readings and concert contributions always last ten minutes, a ritual is created and you are cordially invited to participate as a visitor and a listener.

The cellist Adele Bitter (leader of the cellists in the German Symphony Orchestra) plays pieces from Jewish Ursula Mamlok, who as a child emigrated from the Schillerstraße. The cellist Ulrike Brand improvises texts by Nelly Sachs and Gertrud Kolmar, the violinist and pianist Noga Bruckstein presents Yiddish songs, Farhang Moshtag plays Persian music on a Kamancheh and Mischa Tangian accompanies him.
