Seeking Input to Revise a Policy

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board's Advisory Committee on Equity (ACE), consisting of parents, community partners, students, staff, and trustees, reviewed a policy to better align with its needs and support the District's strategic goals. Ottawa-Carlton invited current and former ACE members, students, families, staff, and others interested in ACE’s work to share feedback on the opportunities and challenges impacting student well-being and learning, as well as their thoughts on the ACE membership criteria.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board utilized the Form tool to actively engage the community in providing input on their standing policy. This approach encourages parents, students, staff, and community partners to share their thoughts and suggestions, ensuring diverse perspectives are considered in the policy revision process. By gathering feedback from those directly impacted, Ottawa-Carleton aims to create a more inclusive, effective policy that better serves the needs of the school district and aligns with its strategic goals for equity and inclusivity.

Naming Ideas for an Engagement Platform

Monash University Clinical Trials Centre collaborated with their consumer and community involvement consultants to develop a shortlist of names for their new online community engagement site. This platform will provide community members with the opportunity to share insights with researchers on how to enhance healthcare for themselves and their communities.

Monash University used the Quick Poll tool to gather input from the community on the naming of their new engagement platform. By displaying a shortlist of potential names, they invited community members to vote for their preferred option. This approach not only encourages direct participation but also ensures that the platform’s name reflects the preferences of the people it is aimed to serve.

Feedback on Student Achievement Plans

The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board initiated a public consultation to gather feedback on the final development of its 2024-2027 Student Achievement Plan. Recognizing the importance of community input, the board sought the perspectives of parents, students, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure the plan addresses the specific needs of its community while aligning with the Ministry of Education's mandates. Developed in accordance with the Better Schools and Student Outcomes Act (2023), the plan aims to fulfill provincial priorities and goals for student success.

To facilitate community participation, PVNC used the Form tool, allowing individuals to submit comments and suggestions. This feedback is integral to refining the plan, ensuring it reflects the values, concerns, and expectations of the district’s diverse population. By leveraging this interactive platform, the school board demonstrates its commitment to fostering an inclusive, collaborative process where the voices of the community shape the future of education in the district.
