An ode to the men in our lives

Today is Father's Day and I would like to do the honours of not just celebrating fathers but extending this glorious celebration to all men.

To the men in our lives- fathers, spouses, partners, brothers, boyfriends, friends, colleagues, neighbours etc., we use today to celebrate you.

We honour you for being pillars in our lives. We appreciate the sacrifices you make and recognise your doggedness in living a life beyond yourselves. The sheer tenacity you show in living a life worthy of emulation for posterity's sake is beyond admirable.

Even though phrases like "man up" or "real men don't cry" are often touted, and in my opinion, wrongly advised, we acknowledge your perseverance to keep the ball rolling even in those moments when you're down.

Today we commemorate your importance to the perpetuity of mankind and encourage you to keep up the good work.
