Old Mutual Foundation Awards Top Performers at National Maths Olympiad 2024

The Old Mutual Namibia Foundation proudly congratulates the exceptional students who emerged as top performers of the 2024 National Mathematics Olympiad (NMO) Grand Finale. This year’s competition, supported by an investment of N$100 000 from the Foundation, showcased the outstanding mathematical talent of Namibian youth.

 

The Grand Finale, which took place on 12 September 2024, concluded with an award ceremony on 13 September at the Mercure Hotel. The competition honoured the top performers in various categories, each receiving substantial prizes. The first-place winners, who each received N$5 000, were Roland Ndjamba of St Boniface College, recognised as the top male student, and Helena Haikali of Canisianum Roman Catholic High School and Grace Haufiku of Okahandja Secondary School, who tied as the top female students.

 

The second-place awards, amounting to N$3 000 each, went to Anton Kanyanga of Matumbo Angelina Ribebe SS, in the male category, and Justine Peelenga of Gabriel Taapopi SS, in the female category. The third-place prizes of N$2 000 each were awarded to Sean Chembe of Maurits Devenish Private School, in the male category, and Magreth Ndara of Maria Mwengere SS, in the female category.

 

Mignon du Preez, Group Marketing, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Executive at Old Mutual, expressed her admiration for the winners, stating, “We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of these talented students. Their dedication and hard work are truly inspiring. At Old Mutual Namibia, we believe in the power of education to shape a brighter future, and it is an honour to support these young mathematicians as they embark on their journey to the Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad. Congratulations to each of them for their outstanding performance and commitment to excellence.”

 

The National Mathematics Olympiad serves as a crucial platform for fostering a deeper interest in mathematics and science, encouraging students to excel and explore careers in these vital fields.
