Oxford Nanopore Technologies has entered into a partnership with sequencing service provider Plasmidsaurus to advance nanopore-based plasmid sequencing. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. Together, they will codevelop new workflows, reagents, and applications for plasmid sequencing, extending to microbial and gene therapy applications. Founded in 2021 and based in Los Angeles, Plasmidsaurus offers a rapid, whole-plasmid sequencing service utilizing nanopore sequencing. Plasmidsaurus CEO Mark Budde expressed excitement about the collaboration, aiming to address the daily needs of biotech researchers globally.
Zymo Research Launches Omics Discovery Grant for RNA-Seq Research
Zymo Research Corp. has launched the Omics Discovery Grant to support scientists worldwide in exploring the transcriptome of any organism using cutting-edge RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) technologies. The grant will award up to 10 research proposals with a comprehensive package valued at over $4,000 each. This includes the Zymo-Seq RiboFree Total RNA Library Kit, Illumina platform paired-end sequencing, RNA-Seq data analysis and visualization through the Aladdin Bioinformatics Platform, and an additional $2,000 credit for RNA-Seq sample preparation technologies.
Novogene Expands Genomic Research Capabilities with PacBio Sequencing
PacBio announced that Novogene is using its Revio long-read sequencing system at its new lab in Munich, Germany. The Revio system's enhanced accuracy and throughput will enable Novogene's customers to scale genomic research across rare diseases, cancer, microbes, and agriculture cost-effectively. Novogene expects high demand from customers in these fields due to Revio's capability to uncover complex repetitive regions, structural variants, and novel isoforms. To increase efficiency and accessibility, Novogene plans to integrate more automation into Revio's workflows.
INTEGRA Biosciences and Parse Biosciences Automate Single Cell RNA Sequencing
INTEGRA Biosciences and Parse Biosciences have partnered to automate single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) on the ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot. This protocol combines Parse Biosciences’ Evercode™ combinatorial barcoding technology with INTEGRA’s liquid handling expertise, enhancing workflow efficiency and reproducibility in academic and industry labs. Parse Biosciences’ Evercode technology allows for parallel preparation and sequencing of a million cells or nuclei without individual cell isolation. By automating this process on the ASSIST PLUS robot, the solution reduces hands-on time by 75 percent and manual pipetting steps by 85 percent, addressing barriers such as time-consuming workflows and high costs.
