One Book That Every Self-Doubting Being Should Read.

One Book That Every Self-Doubting Being Should Read.

I’ve spent my entire childhood and a few years as an adult doubting my abilities, my choices, and my desires. I always thought there is only one way to be successful and be happy- To study hard and get good grades, get a high-paying job and thrive in it.

And when I realized this path doesn’t make me happy, I assumed there is something wrong with me. Everybody around me was following the same path. They are well-settled, have high-paying jobs and are happy. If they can be happy, why can’t I?

Why am I so miserable that no one even wants to spend time with me?

Why can’t I be confident about my skills and potential?

Why do I keep failing at every big and small thing I try to do?

Why do I feel embarrassed about my slightly overweight body when there are obese people out there who are more confident and comfortable in their skin?

The self-doubt was ever-growing, so much so that I stopped hanging out with a few friends I had- Just to avoid feeling inferior.

Every single thing I thought of was self-sabotaging. I don’t even remember patting my back when I took the hardest decision of my life to move away from my parents for graduation.

Do you see the pattern?

Until some 2 years back, I was so deeply habituated to thinking negatively about myself that it felt terribly wrong to even compliment myself on my small wins.

In these 2 years, many self-help books taught me the true meaning of the phrase ‘Love yourself.’

But it was this one book which convinced me of what stupendous power our thoughts possess. Our thoughts alone are responsible for every suffering in our life.

‘The Power of Your Subconscious Mind’ by Dr Joseph Murphy is a gem. I recommend this book to everyone who walks on this planet. It’s THAT powerful.

For the first time ever, I got the answers to why I was failing so much as a child- through this book.

I failed because I believed I was a failure. I failed to make friends because I believed I don’t have it in me to become a friend.

The power of the subconscious is enormous. What you write on the inside, you will experience on the outside. — Dr Joseph Murphy

Thoughts become things. There is a universal power that connects all humans through their thought principle- Infinite intelligence.

In the book, the author provides numerous miraculous examples of how thoughts influence our fates. I’ll not reveal too many things from the book to you but know this one thing-

This book is the one medicine for all those who find themselves self-sabotaging at every minute of their life.

The author also emphasizes the importance of prayer- Not the religious one we do in temples and the church, but the real mental prayer, or in other words, affirmation techniques.

I found these techniques are as brilliant as they are simple to execute.

It was after reading this book that I started writing affirmations daily. It has shown such a difference in my life already though it’s just been 3 months.

This book is a pleasant reminder that you don’t need to blame anyone for the bad experiences. They are the reactions of the universe to your own thoughts.

If you think you’re not a good enough writer to bag a $$$ deal, you will most probably not get it. Not because you’re a bad writer, but because you believe you are.

The culprit of all your bad experiences is your thought. But it can also be an angel for realizing all your dreams come true.

The miracles you see happening around are in fact, the power of human thought. We can use mobile phones today to connect to anyone anywhere because someone in a random part of the world thought of this idea for the first time.

We see so many digital writers thriving today because someone out there imagined a portable box called a laptop that can do the work of a postcard, newspaper, phone, and TV!

These great people visualized their dreams and affirmed their existence to themselves in some way until they really made those things which never existed before.

Your subconscious mind is always reproducing according to your habitual mental patterns — Dr Joseph Murphy

Since the day I started reading this book, I was mind-blown over and over again by the facts mentioned. I’ve even started consciously checking my thoughts every now and then and reminding myself that,

Good thoughts will make good things happen.

This belief, this faith is the foundation of your future. You’ll realize the weight of this sentence once you read the book.

Today, I’m already feeling the subtle changes around me that I know resulted from my changed way of thinking.

Lastly,

The other day when I told my cousin about this book, she asked me,’ Do you really believe in this self-belief and mindful living stuff?’ Her expression clearly showed she didn’t believe in this stuff one bit.

I don’t blame her. I was thinking exactly like her just 2 years ago. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Reading self-help does change you in ways you never imagined.

It has helped me find my true purpose. It has helped me to be kind to myself after inflicting so much mental trauma every single day of my childhood. It has helped me understand that there is a way of life which is more fulfilling and impactful.

This book, in particular, has helped me with the most important thing though- To know in my heart that everything I attract is the work of how I think.

And with this incredible knowledge, it’s hard to not be mindful about how you talk to yourself, isn’t it?

If you read this book, let me know if you like it. I love having book conversations!

Fantastic to hear how books fuel transformation! Recently, "The Obesity Code" by Dr. Jason Fung resonated with us deeply. It aligns with our wellness mission and surprisingly, equations too! Have you ever found parallels in unexpected genres?
