Oren Smadga's Patriotic Message After Losing His Son

There is no crueler punishment in life, than for a parent to have to bury their young child. I know, because I watched my mother go through it twice.

But Oren Smadga🎗️ isn't an ordinary citizen. He's an Olympic hero of epic proportions - probably the most recognized sportsman in Israel.

His reaction to the death of their beloved son Omer is completely irrational. A bereaved parent dealing with such a tragedy has almost no strength to stand up.

So there is only one explanation for how the bereaved parents are reacting and providing us with such powerful messages - they are receiving new powers from the collective.

I'm sharing below a translation of his moving message to our Prime Minister.

Let us all please take note of his important message about what Israel must do - let's cut and paste it everywhere so we can keep these important words in front of us at all times.

Dear Prime Minister,

Unfortunately, this week we joined the bereaved family that you have been a part of for many years.

Your brother fell a hero. And our son Omer was also a hero in his life and in his death, and therefore you can understand the whole range of emotions we feel.

The fall of Omer and of all the soldiers who fought and fell as brothers, must bring about the unification of the nation, and bring our hearts closer together.

The fall of Omer and of all the soldiers who fought and fell as brothers, must bring about the unification of the nation, and bring our hearts closer together.

You are the chosen leader and only you can enter the pages of history as brave and trailblazing.

It is difficult for us to hear extremists from both sides who are busy dividing us. This is the time for unification and the completion of the victory.

It is our job now to make sure that the state looks after the reservists, the soldiers and all security forces and their families.

Our soldiers have sacrificed their lives, left home, families, jobs and raced forward to the battlefield while the economy races forward, and life supposedly goes on as usual.

I ask that you do everything in your power to find a solution and answer for our heroes, including their physical, emotional and financial needs.

This is the most justified war. We sacrificed the best of our sons and daughters in order to win! Don't stop until the victory is absolute!

Please, do everything possible to return the hostages alive and the fallen back home to their families.

And to you, the members of the Alexandroni Brigade, Battalion 9203, the unit of my late son Omer that I got to know over the months and especially during the difficult week of Shiva, I discovered people of a higher rank, brave people, people of values, lovers of the country and lovers of people. Friends who became family. I and my whole family salute you.

This week we were exposed to how exciting, united and full of strength our nation is, when so many people came and are coming to comfort.

Especially the community of our settlement (Ganot Hadar and Nordia) and the IDF representatives who embrace, take care of all our needs and surround us with care and warmth.

Although there is no way to deal with such a great pain, except the warm and enveloping hug that we receive from everyone helps to dull the pain a little.

With great appreciation,

Mother, Father, Rom and Rutam of Omer Samadga
