Origin of the ART
Discovery of the art
Humans are gifted with a curious mind, which takes them through an interesting journey of discovering not only the hidden mysteries of the mother earth, but also about what lies beyond our planet, and most importantly, where did we learned the things, that made us, what we are today?
Archaeologists have discovered, over the years, traces of how pre historic human led their lives. Pots, tools, weapons and many more that give glimpse about our lifestyle. But one discovery led to another question for which answers were yet to be discovered.
The person responsible for making the discovery of the most ancient art, was a 9 year old girl, who with her father was looking for hints for pre historic life style. She discovered in the deepest part of the cave, drawings on the walls that depicted clear images of animals. They were so perfectly drawn, that it was rejected to be accepted as pre historic. Lack of modern technology made the discovery a useless treasure. But years later, it was proved that the art, actually, is pre historic. Dating back to about 40,000 years.
First Art
Discoveries after discoveries led to exploring the art on the walls of caves where the humans resided. The most ancient (till today) is found in the caves of Indonesia which dates back to 40,000 years. It is the prints of the hand on the wall. The style of art suggest that we first started drawing with the style, popularly known today, as blow painting. Keeping your hand tightly pressed against the wall and blowing the colour, which mainly was the animal blood. This could be considered as marking your territory, but the actual reason is still un-explainable.
What did we draw?
There are no traces that the human brain was developed enough to create imagination. The drawings on the walls were scenes, as they would see around them and their residential area. Their art was mainly dominated by animals. But not all the animals, a very few, selected ones. The tiger, bison, horses along with the human figurine were the main subjects of their art. And also a few, which were quite vivid and no reasonable explanation was available for them. Are these the scenes from their hunting, what was the significance of these figures?
It was, at first, assumed as the hunting scene where the prey is surrounded by human hunters. But, the remains in the cave suggest entirely different story. The bones found in the caves belongs to the goats like animal of that time (possible called the wild goats) which means, their diet was different then what was in their art. It also contains a few drawings with just dots, criss-cross lines, and geometric figures. What was the meaning behind these figures?
For years, this remained a mystery.
The question had finally been answered
Another astonishing discovery was made, 1000’s of miles away from the first traces of art, in African lands. They were not 10’s of thousands years old, but just a few hundred years old. But, the area had been abandoned by the natives who have moved to land, that contains no mountains, no walls to draw on, but long grassy lands for them to survive. The people have left their treasure of art at their older residence.
But there is this hidden clue still carried with the people.
Sufferings and diseases are often related to demons and spirits in their community. So the only way to treat the patient was through connecting with the spirit world. There are dedicated ‘doctors’, who have the power to speak with the spirits. They claim to speak with the spirits and treat the patients. In a traditional was, amidst the rhythmic humming of the music, the doctor dances near the fire. At a moment, the doctor begins to lose its rhythm. He is now, in a state of Trans.
There is similarity between the doctor and the artists and the writers. They have a vision, a scene building up behind their mind and they are looking for ways to express what they see and what they now feel about it. It depends upon the mastery of that person, what medium he chooses for himself. The ancient humans lack the power of words to express themselves. The only way was to draw what they saw.
An experiment was conducted to see what a person going into Trans feels, or see during his journey. This was done with the help of LED lights being periodically turned off and on right in front of the eyes, while the eyes are closed. This would imitate the fire near the area where the ritual is performed. The result of the experiment was, with the changing pattern of the LEDs, the person under the study begin to see images, patterns, under the influence of the light. The ones similar to many drawings found on the walls of the cave. The lines, the patterns and the geometrical drawings were very similar to what the person under study was experiencing. Here, it was your subconscious mind playing the trick for you. As your ability to move into the state of Trans develops, you begin to see more than just the
patterns. You begin to see images, images that meant something, or maybe, you relate it to something.
Evolution of the Human race
The first drawings on the caves were actually depictions of what people see in their state of Trans, the examples could be found into various parts of the world, dating to the same era. Which suggest, exploring the places had just started to begin, sharing of ideas and teaching the under developed races had just begin. This leads to various new question, which shall be discussed in the later articles.
